Wednesday 15th October

The Autumn Term is well underway and the library is always a hive of activity at lunchtimes.  This half term children have been enjoying mindful colouring, drawing, tracing, making bookmarks, creating Class Assembly PowerPoints, quizzing, reading the CBBC Newsround website and of course … READING!

There's always lots going on in the library, but every lunchtime all children who choose to read quietly in the silent reading spaces receive a HousePoint.

Friday 13th September

We have had a wonderful time in the library celebrating Roald Dahl Day today, on what would have been his 102nd birthday.  There was lots of reading, which I'm sure, would have made Roald Dahl a very happy man indeed!  Thank you very much to Mrs Harrison who donated some books so that the children could enjoy some new ones today.

A very special mention to the brave and enthusiastic Year 5 and 6 story-tellers who read outside on the KS1 playground this lunchtime.  They came back buzzing with excitement - exactly the kind of reading for pleasure spirit we love to encourage here at Greswold.  Well done to you all!

Congratulations also to Sycamore, Chaffinches, Skylarks and Squirrels who were first to return the Roald Dahl Challenge and get a class point.

Thursday 12th September 2019

Preparations for Roald Dahl Day tomorrow were well underway in the library today!

A group of Year 5 and 6 readers have volunteered for a Roald Dahl Readathon.  They were the first to use the new drama space, adjacent to the library, for practising and fine-tuning their story-telling skills.

KS1 children are in for a treat tomorrow as they will be able to listen to one of Roald Dahl's most loved stories, 'The Enormous Crocodile' being read aloud on the KS1 playground.

Wednesday 11th September 2019

It's been a busy first week back in the library.  Children have been busy choosing books and are keen to get stuck into their reading this term - fantastic!  How lovely it is to see the children's eager faces in the library again and hear all about their Summer reading.  If your child completed the Summer Reading Challenge in your local library during the holidays, please encourage them to bring their medal and certificate to their library time this week as Mrs Beddow would love to see it.

Year 2 children have enjoyed the story 'The Puppy wants a Pigeon' this week.  Mo Willems is a fantastcally funny author who never fails to make us laugh!

If you have any good condition Top Trumps games or magazines that are no longer needed at home and you think the children at Greswold might enjoy them, please consider donating to the library.

We are very grateful to Mrs Harrison who has donated a large bag of children's books this week.  If you have any pre-loved books you would like to donate to our library, we promise that we will give them a good home!
