Our Week in Reception
Week ending 15th October
Our Week in Reception
This week we have been very busy! We tasted different types of bread, made our own bread, made our own butter, and ate our bread and butter! We also learned a lot about patterns in Maths and made fruit kebabs, which the children really enjoyed.
Next week we will be…
Celebrating Black History Month by reading some stories, learning about some Black History Heroes, listening to music from Africa and the Caribbean, and thinking about what our dreams and aspirations are.
We will be learning the letter sounds 'h', 'b', 'f', 'ff' and practising our tricky words I, to, go, no, the, into. We will also be doing more practise of writing these letter shapes.
We will be learning about subitising, which is when you look at a group of items and realise how many there are without counting. This is a key skill for children to master, and we will be focusing on subitising the numbers 1, 2 and 3 initially.
Requests and reminders
We have sent an app notification to ask for photographs of parents when they were children, which we would like to use to support our learning this week. Please send them either on Tapestry or send a photograph or photocopy. Thank you!
Please could we ask that all children have spare clothing in school and that any spare clothing that we provide is returned, washed, as soon as possible.
The grass is now becoming quite muddy so please remember to send wellies for your child to wear if you haven't already done so.
Also please remember that children come to school in PE kits wearing their shoes on PE days: Monday for Dragonflies and Ladybirds, Wednesday for Bumblebees.
Please make sure that your child has a bookbag for library day: Tuesday for Dragonflies, Wednesday for Ladybirds, Thursday for Bumblebees.
|Reception Remote Learning|
We would just like to remind you that children all need a named water bottle in school and this must only contain water.
Children do not need to bring a snack with them as we provide this.
Children need a coat every day as we are outside whatever the weather.
Children need a named pair of wellingtons, which they can leave outside the classroom.
Children should not be wearing earrings as this can be a safety issue, especially as we are outside so much.
