Our Week in Reception
Week ending 28th January 2022
Our Week in Reception We had a wonderful week this week when Supertato and the Evil Pea came to visit! The children really enjoyed making traps for the Evil Pea and designing posters to track him down.

Phonics This week we have been revisiting some Phase 3 phonemes and graphemes - y, z, qu, ch and sh. We have also been continuing to learn our tricky words, particularly 'is' and 'he' | Maths In Maths we have moved on to numbers 6, 7 and 8, looking at how they are made up and how they can be represented. We have also continued to gain confidence with subitising skills. |
Next week the children will be learning about the Chinese New Year, which begins on 1st February. They may also continue to follow their interest in Superheroes, if they wish. Also, starting on 2nd February, Pentagon Play will be installing our new climbing frame with platform and slide in the outside area. We are very excited about that! We will continue to revisit Phase 3 phonemes and graphemes, and we are now practising our letter formation every day. We are noticing that the children are really gaining confidence through this approach.

We would just like to remind you that children all need a named water bottle in school and this must only contain water.
Children do not need to bring a snack with them as we provide this.
Children need a coat every day as we are outside whatever the weather.
Children need a named pair of wellingtons, which they can leave outside the classroom.
Children should not be wearing earrings as this can be a safety issue, especially as we are outside so much.
