Year 4 - week beginning 25 January

Hello Year 4,

We hope you have had a restful weekend with your families.  We also hope you've enjoyed seeing the snow and maybe you have even had a chance to go outside and experience it, making some snow men and snow ladies perhaps !

Please explore the timetable below to see what learning is planned for this week.  Note that we have now included an assembly for both Monday and Friday.  You should have received an invite for tomorrow's assembly via Teams.  If it goes to plan then there is a chance that we may be able to hold an assembly on Friday also.

Take care,

The Y4 Team

Monday

Mrs Mills is going to upload an extra little activity everyday. This will either be a brainteaser, some mindfulness colouring, a short video to wake you up in the morning or a riddle! Look out for these daily. Today she is going to start with her favourite move and shake video, and Chaffinches should know this well! Click here to wake up and shake up!

Optional drop in support sessions

Today, as trialled in previous weeks, we will be offering optional drop in sessions for maths and English to those children not in school.  These will be organised via Teams and invites will be sent accordingly.  This is an opportunity for children who have completed today's learning to ask for some help if they have encountered difficulties with certain questions.  Please make sure that if you are going to attend the Teams meeting that you have, firstly, attempted today's learning and, secondly, can tell the teacher which particular question you have found challenging.  Each teacher has invited a number of children, including some that are not in their own class, and so the time they may be able to spend with each child is likely to be limited.

Maths

Maths today focusses around reasoning on factors. Listen to how Mrs Mills approaches the reasoning here, then have a go at a couple of reasoning problems yourself.

English

In grammar today we are going to look at noun phrases. You can find the video by clicking here. The last slide details your work for today but I will recap it here too. There are five sentences where I want you identify the noun phrases, then rewrite the sentences using your own adjectives. For a final challenge, write five of your own sentences that include super descriptive noun phrases!
