Music at Greswold

We have a strong tradition of singing at Greswold and our pupils enjoy the varied songs in assemblies. There are productions throughout the year with opportunities for the children to perform. Children in Year 4 have a chance to learn to play a brass instrument with their class and normally perform in the Spring 'Brass Blast' concert. We also make the most of the specialist teachers from Solihull Music Service to teach Year 6 to the ukulele. Greswold's school band gives our older children a chance to learn and perform popular songs. Each year Year 6 also take part in our House Music competition in which every child represents their house and puts on a show for the rest of the school.
Instrumental Lessons

We offer a range of instrumental lessons to children in Years 3 to 6. The lessons, normally delivered in small groups of 2 to 4, are taught by peripatetic teachers from Solihull Music Service. Below you can see the current list of instruments offered:

Learning and playing a musical instrument is a very valuable addition to children's schooling. Children gain a strong sense of achievement and satisfaction and their self-esteem grows with their ability to perform.
Children taking instrumental lessons also have opportunities to perform to an audience. During the school year there are a number of special concerts and assemblies. We try to invite parents to these where possible to enjoy the results of many hours practising. Instruments are usually provided by parents, although a few of the more expensive instruments may be available for loan from the Authority.
