Phonics

To start your phonics session have a go at recapping some phase sounds and tricky words. Choose a different set of digraphs, blends or words to recap each day.

Phase 3

Phase 4

Phase 5

Tricky Words

Today in phonics we will be learning about the soft 'c' sound. Watch the pre recorded video here

Your activity today is to sort the words with soft and hard 'c' sound. You can cut out the words and place them in piles, or you can write your words in a list on a piece of paper.

Reading

Please read with your child for 15-20 minutes each day by choosing a free ebook from the correct book band using the Oxford Owl website here. This can be done in one chunk or broken up into smaller chunks throughout the day. Please send a Tapestry message to your child's class teacher to find out which coloured band your child is on.

We currently also have access to the Collins Big Cat Ebook Library which a a variety of colour banded books. Click on the teacher portal and log in using the username and password below.

Guided Reading

Read through the non- fiction text about the different layers of the ocean. Then choose your level of challenge below, and complete the comprehension activity.

English

Today in English we will be practising our handwriting of the one-armed robot letters. One-armed robot letters are 'r', b', 'm', 'h', 'n' and 'p'.

Watch the videos below showing you how to form each letter as a lower case and an upper case (capital letter). Then practice on a piece of paper or a whiteboard.

Lower case r

Capital R

Lower case b

Capital B

Lower case n

Capital n

Lower case h

Capital H

Lower case m

Capital M

Lower case k

Capital K

Lower case p

Capital P

Your task is to practise writing the words below in your best handwriting. These words are all spelt using both the one- armed robot letters and the curly caterpillar letters that we have practised at school. Make sure you are forming each letter correctly, and sitting them on the line. Remember, the letters 'b' and 'h' are ascenders and are tall, and the letter 'p' is a descender, so drops below the line when it is a lower case.

moan

hope

bake

roam

croak

cheese

bleak

mope

As an extra challenge, can you write a sentence, a question and an exclamation using these words, remembering your full stops, capital letters and finger spaces. I wonder if you could use a conjunction in some of your sentences too.

Maths

This week in maths, we will be learning about the inverse. Watch the pre-recorded video to find out what 'inverse' means and to learn how to use it.

Then, complete the activity by writing down all the different addition and subtraction number sentences that you can for each triangle of numbers. Choose your level of challenge in the link below.

Music

Complete the Oak Academy lesson about 'high sounds'. In this lesson, we will learn about what types of instruments make high pitched sounds. Click the link below to begin the lesson.

P.E

We are all very excited that tomorrow is sports day! Let's try to get one more practice in!

Sports Day Practice:

**Make sure an adult is with you when you are taking part in PE today. Make sure that you have set your event up in a space and that you are wearing appropriate PE kit.**

Choose one or two of the events below to practise at home! You can practise with a member of your household, or by yourself! Don't worry if you haven't got the correct equipment, you can swap them for something else! For example, instead of bean bags or quoits you could use teddies and instead of hoops you could use boxes or just a square made from masking tape.

Hoop throw:

When instructed a competitor from each house tries to throw a bean bag into a hoop (1 person at a time)

  • Score 1 point for landing it in hoop 1, 2 points for landing it in hoop 2 and 3 points for landing it in hoop 3.
  • Child then collects the beanbag and passes it onto the next child who waits to be instructed to throw.
  • (NOT A RELAY)

Quoit relay:

Run around a cone (or another object) some distance away balancing a quoit on your head and return to pass on to next runner.

Hockey relay:

Child to dribbles a ball to their cone with a hockey stick, then picks the ball up, runs back and passes the ball to their next team member to go.

Ball relay:

Runner collects a ball from the bucket and returns it to their hoop before the next runner goes to do the same.

Egg & Spoon relay

Balancing the egg on the spoon, the children walk around the cone and back then pass the equipment to the next team member.

Obstacle race:

Run over 2 hurdles, pass a hoop over body from head to toe, walk down the bench and then run to the end.
