Phonics

To start your phonics session have a go at recapping some phase sounds and tricky words. Choose a different set of digraphs, blends or words to recap each day.

Linked below are the Year 1 and 2 common exception words. Your child should be able to read and spell the Year 1 common exception words by the end of Year 1. If your child is confident with reading and spelling the Year 1 common exception words try learning to read and spell the Year 2 common exception words. 

 

Today's recap blend is 'scr'. Put the sounds buttons on the 'scr' words in the pre recorded phonics lesson.

 

This week we are focusing on split digraphs. 

 

Complete the split digraph words hidden in the word search below. If you are unable to print, use the online word search maker linked below.

Reading

 

Please read with your child for 15-20 minutes each day by choosing a free ebook from the correct book band using the Oxford Owl website here. This can be done in one chunk or broken up into smaller chunks throughout the day. Please send a Tapestry message to your child's class teacher to find out which coloured band your child is on.

Guided Reading

 

This week in Guided Reading out focus story is 'The Worst Princess' by Anna Kemp and Sara Ogilvie. Click here to watch the pre-recorded lesson. Complete the retrieval, inference and choice questions on the RIC document below or on a blank piece of paper.

English

 

This week in English we are looking at 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff.' Watch the pre-recorded video to listen carefully to the story. 

 

Your activity today is to sequence the events of the story. If you are unable to print the sequencing cards below, order the cards by writing down the corresponding letters.

Maths

Watch the pre-recorded video to recap subtraction and find out how to play the subtraction race game.

Personal best challenge: How many sit ups can you do in one minute? Repeat this challenge each day and try and beat your own score.

Today you will be learning all about using expression in your reading. Click here to watch the pre-recorded lesson. Complete the activity on the video and then upload your work to Tapestry.

Maths

 

Find a member of your household to play with and use your subtraction skills to ride the bus all the way to school!

 

You will need a die and something that you and your opponent can use as counters.

 

Take it in turns to roll the die and move your counter along the board. Use your subtraction skills to answer the subtraction number sentence that you land on. If you get the answer correct, you can stay where you are until your next go. If you get the answer incorrect, go back 2 spaces! The first person to arrive at school is the winner!
