Next, play the 'Roll a Sentence' punctuation game. Roll the dice to land on a punctuation mark. Then write a sentence using that piece of punctuation.

Mild: Write a simple sentence using the correct punctuation.

Spicy: Write a sentence including an adjective and the correct punctuation.

Hot: Write a sentence including an adjective, a conjunction and the correct punctuation.

Maths

Watch the video here to find out more, then choose your chilli challenge below. You can either cut out the number sentences and stick them down in the correct position, or just write them down on a piece of paper!

History

Watch the video to remind yourself about Grace Darling and why she is famous. Then, complete the Fact File all about Grace and her life.

P.E

Aiming and throwing:

You will need:

3 targets- these could be made from tubs, hoops or just 3 areas in an open space!

Sensible items to throw. Soft items like beanbags work best!

Spread out your 3 targets one behind the other. Aim your objects into each target and throw. If your object lands in the first target, you get 2 points. If it lands in the second target, you get 5 points and if it lands in the third target (the one that it furthest away) you get 10 points! Add up your scores and note them down.  Play against a family member and take turns throwing your objects. Choose a target score for the winner to reach, for example, the first person to get 100 points wins the game!

Ask at home why your name was given to you and ask your parents if you had any special ceremonies to celebrate your birth and your name. Then, research the meaning of your name. My name is originally French, and it means 'clear and bright.'

Thus half term, we will be learning about the ways that Christian, Sikhs and Muslims celebrate the birth of a baby. Today we are learning about Christian Baptisms and Christenings. Read through the presentation about a Christening and watch the videos below following a Christian Baptism.

Guided Reading

Reading for pleasure:

Listen to Miss Goldman read all of Chapter 10 of Pippi Longstocking: Pippi Comes to the Rescue. Click the link here

English

Take part in the conjunction quiz by watching the pre-recorded video here

Last week, we read the story 'Clean Up! by Nathan Bryon. If you would like to remind yourself of the story, click the link below to watch the story being read. Do you remember writing a letter to Plastic Pete to persuade him to clean up his rubbish? Hopefully we will get a reply from Plastic Pete soon and he will have changed his ways... We have also learned about how the seaside has changed over time in history, and we thought about all the things we like to do at the seaside now and compared them to what people did at the seaside in the Victorian times.

Your task today is to use the writing skills that you have practised this week to write a short story about going to the seaside. In your story, I would like you to tell me what you got up to at the seaside. I will be checking that you have used capital letters and full stops correctly. You should also try to use conjunctions in your writing. I wonder if you could ask the reader some questions in order to use a question mark and show when something really exciting or surprising happens by using an exclamation mark.

You don't have to write loads and loads today. Instead I want you to focus on making sure your grammar and punctuation is correct, and that your sentences make sense. Watch the pre-recorded video to listen to Miss Goldman's example. Write your short stories on a piece of paper, and don't forget to take a photo and upload it to Tapestry.

Maths

Today you will be solving some reasoning problems using your addition and subtraction skills. Watch the Pre- Recorded Lesson here.

Then, choose your level of challenge and complete the reasoning worksheet below.

Art

Watch the BBC Teach lesson below to learn how to draw a self portrait. Then, have a go at drawing a portrait of yourself. Don't forget to upload your self portrait to Tapestry.
