  • The whole school community comes together for Harvest time!

    Mon 09 Oct 2023

This morning's Harvest Festivals were both very positive occasions for everyone involved.  As well as a lovely autumnal walk for staff and pupils, passing through the wooded area behind Buryfield Road, the children were treated to a lovely service of songs, messages from speakers, fun activities and chances to reflect on the reasons to be grateful for Harvest.

Thank you to Reverend Sue from St Helen's Church along with Linda Hicks and Chris Carrington for helping to make it a very memorable event and something staff and children always look forward to.

A special thank you must go to our Greswold families for their very kind donations, which Mrs Rochelle used to great effect to decorate the hall this morning, and which will be shared amongst various charities and food banks later this week.

  • World Smile day at Greswold today!

    Fri 06 Oct 2023

'Use your smile to change the world, don't let the world change your smile'

Both children and adults celebrated World Smile Day today with staff wearing the colour yellow and badges to help spread the positive message.  The children took part in a special assembly this week by Miss Ceillam dedicated to the day and have shown their consideration and care by asking each other how their World Smile day has been.

A lovely day and a pertinent message all around!

  • September's Travel Tracker results are in! Over 100 badges already given out!

    Fri 06 Oct 2023

Today, the Junior Travel Ambassadors distributed the first set of WOW badges to children who had earned one by travelling actively to school at least once a week during September.

So far, engagement across the school is at 17%, something Greswold would like to improve so it nears our aim of 30%.  If families haven't yet logged their travel for September or have missed a week, you can still go back and do it meaning your child will receive a badge soon.

However, 96% of all logged journeys were classed as active out of nearly 1200 trips made which is fabulous.

Reception earned the most badges (21) with Nursery and Y3 Robins accumulating the most per class (11).

Thank you to all families who are actively participating but for those who aren't sure what to do, click on over the Sustainable Travel webpage in the Parents section of the website where there are instructions for you to follow.

  • Important message from SMBC: S11 - Buryfield Road - Consultation to change the existing 30mph speed limit to a 20mph speed limit

    Tue 03 Oct 2023

    Dear Greswold Primary School

In accordance with Department for Transport guidance, it is expected that the Council as the Local Highway Authority keeps speed limits under review with changing circumstances and gives consideration to the introduction of more 20 mph limits and zones, over time, in urban areas and built-up village streets that are primarily residential.

A speed limit review of the Borough was undertaken during 2021/22. The study identified roads adjacent to schools where the existing speed limits may be inappropriate and where lower speed limit of 20mph would be more suitable.

Every school location within the Borough was assessed and it is expected that the programme to address lowering the speeds near to schools will run over consecutive years.

This has resulted in the above-named proposed Traffic Regulation Orders, which have the aim of achieving safe and appropriate driving speeds, preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the roads run and to avoid the danger to persons or other traffic using the roads or any other roads, or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.

I have attached for your information/records details of the changes that are relevant to your ward/parish. However full details of all the changes across the borough will be available from the 5th October on council’s website at the link below, towards the bottom of the page under the heading of Speed:

    https://www.solihull.gov.uk/Roads-pavements-and-streetcare/Roadworks-and-Traffic-Regulation-Orders

We are advertising these Orders in the press and with on-street notices and signs, it’s not practical to write to all the addresses across the borough located on roads where the lower speed limits are proposed.

The Traffic Regulation Orders will be formally advertised on 5th October 2023, the 3-week consultation period ends on 26th October 2023.

    Thank you
