  • Macbeth Inspires...

    Fri 22 Dec 2023

Earlier this half term four Year 6 pupils were invited to a writing enrichment workshop centred on the play Macbeth. The children were challenged complete three different genres of writing with just under ten minutes writing time for each. They had to get to grips with an unfamiliar play as well as working with children from other schools. I'm proud to say they rose to the challenge and demonstrated our values throughout.

Below are their favourite pieces of writing from the morning and this is what they said about it:

It was really good and I really liked the fact we could do the three pieces of writing. I liked working with different partners.

It was good. I liked the three different things and the way they helped us with them. I liked the way they explained the story. I also liked the way we discussed the themes of Shakespeare and it made me think about the themes of other writers.

I liked the chattiness and the biscuits! I also liked swapping partners.

It was fun and there were lots of things for each part. I liked having different partners.

  • Certificates galore at today's House Point assembly!

    Fri 22 Dec 2023

Both Star Pupil and House Point certificates were given out to winners in this morning's assembly, along with prizes for winners of the PTA Christmas decoration competition. A jam packed assembly which celebrated the successes of this term also included certificates for Otters and Skylarks who have the most improved attendance this term and Nightingales who have the best overall attendance (over 97%) so far in the school since September.

While St Andrew's won the most house points this term, St George's retain their 1st place on the leaderboard for this academic year, however the race is getting very close with only 9 points separating 1st and 4th.

  • A message from one of our school charities

    Thu 21 Dec 2023

    Dear Friends,

Thank you for the continued support from you all. We trust that you will all have a very blessed Christmas and a healthy and meaningful 2024. We have made the decision this year not to sponsor any more pupils at schools in Kenya as we feel that it is time to start tapering the charity to a close.

This is a carefully considered plan and will not happen suddenly. We expect it to take a few years as we promise to continue to support existing students while still in education, as long as we have the resources.

All Trustees here in the `UK and our trusted colleagues in Kenya are getting older and do not realistically believe we can carry the Charity forward indefinitely in the way it has been done for the past 30 years We hope you all will continue to support us for the next few years as the doors have not closed yet, and all funds held in account right to the end will be used for appropriate educational projects or to support a university scholarship for a deserving student.

We will continue to help our pupils/students as long as we can and your continued commitment and enthusiasm will be most appreciated. Every good wish for the festive season and we shall continue to keep you updated from our sponsored pupils’ letters and activities.

    Yours sincerely

Ian D. Carnell MBE and all our trustees Chairman of the Trustees EducAid Africa info@educaidafrica.org

  • Keeping our children and families even safer!

    Mon 18 Dec 2023

Both vehicle users and pedestrians travelling to Greswold this morning may have noticed some new additions to Buryfield Road!

Courtesy of Solihull's Sustainable Travel Team, Greswold are now in receipt of 4 traffic characters, dressed in school colours, helping to remind vehicle users of school's parking and drop-off expectations.

Parents have already commented positively on their appearance and is another example of Greswold's desire to promote active travel and to keep those who walk, cycle and scoot safe!

  • A stunning sky marks the last week of term

  • Over £5,000 raised at last week's PTA Christmas Fayre!

    Fri 15 Dec 2023

School have been informed that Saturday's very successful PTA Christmas Fayre raised in excess of £5,000 which is an amazing achievement!

The exact total of £5,172 was the culmination of an enormous amount of voluntary effort from everyone who helped out on the day and during the preparation before and clean up afterwards.

The selfless endeavours of the PTA, most of who have full time jobs, is so invaluable to the school and its community and is something the school has the upmost respect for.

However, school is aware that the PTA is still in desperate need of more help from volunteers for other future events, especially at the summer fayre in July.  Please click on the PTA page in Community to find out how to contact the PTA to offer assistance.

Every ounce of help, and the funds it subsequently raises, goes straight back into school to benefit every child at Greswold.  Greswold staff are particularly grateful for the support the PTA gives in help to enhance their delivery of the curriculum and therefore the education of the pupils right across Greswold.

Just last week, the PTA helped fund the visit of the 'Animal man' to year 1, something I'm sure parents of those pupils have heard lots about.

Thank you again to everyone involved in Saturday's memorable event, it's those types of days that leave lasting memories for pupils and families for years to follow!

  • The result are in!

    Fri 15 Dec 2023

The winners of this year's PTA Christmas decoration competition will be presented with their prize at next week's House Point assembly, however here's a sneak peek to the lucky ones chosen.  Are you one of the lucky winners?

Well done to everyone who took part.
