  • Author Eamonn Reilly visits Greswold

    Tue 30 Apr 2019

Children in Year 1 to 6 got a treat when local author E R Reilly visited to talk about his books. In a special assembly, Eamonn shared extracts from stories including Oh Dear!, The Look Outs, Rashnu and The British Spy School. The children also got to ask questions and were given writing challenges they could try at homes.

You can find out more about E R Reilly's books on his website here: https://er-reilly.co.uk/er-reilly-books/ . Children can also buy signed copies of his books from school. Order forms have been sent home with your child. Eamonn will be returning to Greswold on 8 May to sign books so any orders should be in school by this date.

  • Stroll and Roll Awards

    Fri 12 Apr 2019

Congratulations to Willows (Y6) for winning the Walk to School Month 'Stroll and Roll' competition designed to promote healthier ways of travelling to and from school each day.  Maples (Y6) were a close 2nd with Otters (Y2) and Wrens (Y3) equal 3rd.  Other classes that have completed the chart include Skylarks (Y4) and Squirrels (Y1).

Greswold would like to thank all families who have attempted to work in partnership with school to promote healthier lifestyles and alleviate traffic congestion on Buryfield Road which in turn helps to safeguard all the children and their families even further.

The children are continuing to log their mode of transport on Travel Tracker, over a four week period, in order to win a 'Living Streets' WOW badge.  They will receive their results and hopefully their prize in the new term.

  • Greswold's netball team finish second in the league

    Thu 11 Apr 2019
Our netball team played an excellent final match of the season this evening, beating Widney Junior School 10 - 2 . We are so proud of them for finishing second overall in the league, only narrowly missing out on the top spot. They have been a joy to watch all year. Well done girls!
  • Explore Learning writing competition

    Wed 10 Apr 2019

Today we were visited by Lauren and Siobhan from Explore Learning who came to launch this year’s writing competition. The theme is ‘a chance to change the world’ and the children have been encouraged to think about ways they can make the world a better place. Your child will be bringing home a leaflet that explains how they can enter the competition. If your child would like to enter, they should complete the writing task at home and return it to school. Happy writing!

  • PTA Easter Egg Competition results

    Tue 09 Apr 2019
PTA and school staff would like to thank all Greswold families who contributed to this year's Easter Egg competition.  The entrees were judged yesterday by the lunchtime cooks who found it eggs-tremely challenging to choose a winner from each class.   As egg-pected, the creations were cracking!  The winners received their prizes at the House Point assembly this morning. The first slide contains a selection of winners' designs.
  • House Point Race

    Tue 09 Apr 2019
Today's House Point assembly highlighted just how close this year's competition has become.  Well done to those children who achieved the most house points this half term in their classes culminating in a tie between St George's and St Andrew's with only one term to go.
  • Athletics Assembly

    Mon 01 Apr 2019
This morning, pupils from year 2 to 6 were treated to an assembly by Zoe, from Specialising in Sport, about indoor and outdoor athletics and its benefits.  It was probably the first time the pupils had ever been allowed to sprint in assembly!  She also mentioned that the current World and European indoor champion at 60m hurdles, Andrew Pozzi from Stratford-upon-Avon, began his career doing Sportshall Athletics at primary school, something for our successful year 5/6 team and all of our children to aspire to.  The children will be bringing home further details about how to get involved in athletics.
