  • Year 6 get evacuated

    To really bring their topic of World War II to life, pupils from Year 6 were evacuated on the Severn Valley Railway. The children visited Bewdley Museum to learn what life was like during the Second World War. They went learned about air raids and even got to try out an Anderson shelter. In the afternoon the group travelled by steam train, but unlike their counterparts during the war they were back home for dinner time. Lots of pictures are available on the Extranet.
  • Year 5 residential visit to the Isle of Wight

    Pupils from Year 5 ventured across the Solent to the Isle of Wight to spend a week filled with learning and fun. The children visited Queen Victoria's home, Osborne House, to find out what life was like for the servants and royalty who lived there. They also saw a show at Shanklin Theatre, went on a boat ride to the Needles, enjoyed the rides of Blackgang Chine and investigated Carisbrooke Castle. One of the focuses of the visit was to compare Solihull and Sandown so the children also completed field work during their stay.

  • Year 6 Lego Workshop

    While the people of Silhill were voting in the general election, Year 6 were getting all creative using Lego. Mrs Glover and Mrs Finnegan had organised the special workshop as a treat for the children who had been busy working all morning in preparation for their SATs. The children created all their own dioramas inspired by their topic of WWII.
