Greswold's A and B basketball teams have been action again in the next stage of the Solihull schools' basketball team. The children, who train with Becky after school each week, played well as team in the matches at Lode Heath School. After finishing second in the event today, they are through to the next stage of the competition.
Pupils from Years 1 to 6 enjoyed watching the film Minions at this half term's PTA Movie Night. The children laughed at the adventures of Stuart, Kevin and Bob as they tried to find the most evil boss to follow, causing trouble in their wake. All the money raised by the event will go towards buying activities for classes to enjoy during wet playtimes.
Each term our Junior Road Safety Officers are running competitions to encourage more of our pupils to choose sustainable ways to travel to school. The last competition had a Christmassy theme and today the winners were revealed in assembly. Well done to everyone in Key Stage 1 and 2 who entered and a special well done to the winners for their creative entries.
Each class at Greswold is working with Josh from SusTrans who is encouraging our pupils to get on their bikes and try to travel in more sustainable ways. Today he worked with Year 5 and focused on how exercise, including cycling, can help to keep the heart healthy. The pupils enjoyed using heart rate monitors to see how their heart rate changed after exercise.
Professional cricketer Tammy Beaumont, who plays for England and Kent, visited Greswold to inspire our pupils. She spent time coaching girls from Year 3 and 4 and also led an assembly for Key Stage 2. Tammy talked about representing England at cricket and gave our pupils a chance to ask questions about her life as a profession sportswoman. Thank you to Tammy for visiting. Year 4 and 5 will be enjoying cricket coaching later this year as part of the 'Chance to Shine' programme.
