  • Year 3 meet Professor McGinty

    Tue 26 Feb 2019
Year 3 mixed fun and learning when Professor McGinty dropped into Greswold. He told the children all about his visit to Ancient Egypt, some 4000 years ago and brought in some artefacts for them to have a look at. The children learnt about how children wore their hair to show off their youth, how they made their bread which included cow 'doo doo' and why the River Nile was so important. They even got to see a real mummy! There are more pictures on the Year 3 page.
  • Year 4 perform at Brass Blast

    Tue 26 Feb 2019
Pupils from Year 4 were stars as they took to the stage at the Brass Blast concert at Warwick Arts Centre. The children, who have been learning to play brass instruments since September, did a great job playing the songs to an appreciative audience. The highlight was joining in as part of a huge brass ensemble featuring schools across Solihull. Well done to all the children who took part and thanks to Mr Bull and Mr Jones who have been teaching the children to play their brass instruments. There are more pictures on the Year 4 page.
  • Cricket All Stars

    Tue 26 Feb 2019

Children in Key Stage 1 and Reception had a great time learning cricket skills this week. On Monday, Josh from Warwickshire CCC led an assembly to introduce the All Stars Cricket programme for children aged 5 to 8. Over the next two days, each class had a taster session with Josh or Andy and got to play some fun cricket games to develop key skills like batting and catching. If your child is interested in the All Stars Cricket programme for the summer, you can find out more or register on the ECB website.

  • School band performance

    Thu 14 Feb 2019
Mr Webb led our school band in their first ever performance when they played in a special assembly for Key Stage 2. The band, who have been playing together since the beginning of the year, performed two songs - Havana and Faded. You can watch the two songs on our video resource area. Later this year the band have been invited to a very special music venue to perform with Solihull Music Service. We look forward to hearing their set take shape over the next few months.
  • Fair Trade tea with the Mayor of Solihull

    Wed 13 Feb 2019

Mrs Cooper’s Eco Club had a wonderful time making Miss T. Cup for Fair Trade Fortnight. This annual event supports the growers of products such as tea, chocolate, coffee and bananas and runs for half term week and the week after. Miss T. Cup will be in one of the shop windows around Solihull and is part of a Fair Trade riddle trail around the town.

On Wednesday 13th Feb, members of Eco Club went with three other schools for tea and fair trade snacks at the Paramo Lounge in Solihull where The Mayor of Solihull joined us. The lucky children were then invited in to have a personal guided tour of the Mayor’s chambers! They wrote in the Mayor’s visitor book and even had photos in her big black council chair in the Council Chambers where all the Council meeting take place!

Well done to all the members of Eco Club for making this fantastic piece of art. Try to spot Miss T. Cup if you are visiting Solihull over the half term break.

  • Year 2 multi-skills competition

    Fri 08 Feb 2019
Pupils from Year 2 took part in an indoor athletics competition which tested a range of different skills. The children took part in activities including running, throwing, jumping and balancing, competing against each other in their houses. The event was run by leaders from Year 5 who, under the oversight of Mr Davis from Lode Heath, demonstrated and scored each activity. We are very proud of the way our Year 2 pupils took part and with how Year 5 looked after them. Well done!

  • Year 5 visit Blists Hill

    Wed 06 Feb 2019
Pupils from Year 5 got to experience what life would have been like in the Victorian era when they visited Blists Hill Victorian Town in Telford. The children tried a Victorian lessons complete with slates, sitting in rows and lots of repetition - very different to the experience at Greswold. During their time at the attraction the children also visited a traditional sweet shop, pharmacy and even got to meet a cart horse. Such a lot of learning packed into one day.
