  • The Big Read

    Fri 29 Apr 2016
Greswold is taking part in The Big Read community art project. This exciting programme, from the team behind the Big Hoot owls that were displayed around Birmingham last summer, allows different groups to design and decorate a book bench for people to sit and read on. Greswold PTA have funded two benches for our younger and older pupils to design. Today in assembly Mrs Powell revealed one of the benches and explained how children can enter the competition to design. We look forward to seeing all the entries.
  • Plastic bottles...

    Fri 29 Apr 2016

Thank you to everyone who has been sending in 2 litre clear plastic bottles to help build an eco-friendly greenhouse. We still need more please to complete this project which will be happening on the 5th and 6th of May. If you have any empty 2 litre bottles that have not contained alcohol, please contiue to send them into school. It would be very helpful if they are washed and have their labels removed too! Many thanks.

  • Air quality workshop

    Wed 27 Apr 2016
Years 4 and 5 got an afternoon treat when The Riot Act theatre group presented a special workshop all about improving air quality. The children enjoyed watching the show which focused on how travelling to school can be made more sustainable by walking, scooting or cycling. There was lots of fun and plenty of laughs - climaxing in a re-written version of the song 'Happy' all about air quality.
  • Year 4 visit to Standon Bowers

    Sun 24 Apr 2016
Pupils from Year 4 spent the weekend in the Staffordshire countryside for two days of outdoor activities. The group had to work as a team to solve different challenges such as bridge building and also try to challenge themselves with activities such as caving or bouldering. The weather was kind and the Standon Bowers staffed praised our pupils for their positive attitude. Well done. Lots more photographs of the visit are available behind a password.
  • Greswold's school band at the Rock and Pop event

    Wed 20 Apr 2016

Our school band looked and sounded like rock stars when they hit the stage at the Solihull Music Service Rock and Pop Evening. The children have been rehearsing with Mr Beatie every week and performed three songs - Pompeii, Livin' on a Prayer and Stitches. It was brilliant performance and showed what can be achieved with dedication and regular practise. Well done!

You can watch the performance here on the website.

  • A sporting day out for Year 5 at Solihull College

    Tue 19 Apr 2016
Year 5 were invited for a day of sport and PE at Solihull College. After walking to the College, the children took part in a number of activities including team building, football, circuit training, dodge ball and crazy ball. It was a full programme which the children enjoyed very much, with the six teams each taking on the roll of a different country that will be competing in the Olympics later this year. Many thanks to all the student leaders at Solihull College for running the day and to the parents who helped on the visit.
  • Basketball Final

    Tue 19 Apr 2016
Greswold's basketball team have been doing fantastically well in their league, making all the way to the final. The last games took place at Lode Heath School against Shirley Heath and Oak Cottage. Our team gave 100% and played their hearts out, eventually ending up coming third and getting the bronze medals for the league - well done. Many thanks to Becky for all her hard work with the team over the year.
  • Professor McGinty visits Year 4

    Thu 14 Apr 2016
Greswold's favourite time travelling detective, Professor McGinty, dropped into Year 4 to tell the children about his adventures to Tudor England. The children had a brilliant time hearing his tales and getting to handle real historical artefacts from the time. A few lucky pupils also got to dress up in Tudor clothing. Many thanks to the PTA for funding this visit.
  • Clean for the Queen

    Wed 13 Apr 2016
With the Queen turning 90 this month, there is a big push across the country to get everywhere looking spick and span. Mrs Cooper took a group of children from years 2 to 4 down to Cold Lands Woods to make sure the area is looking its best. The children and volunteers picked up lots of litter, putting in the specially purple bags provided. Well done to all the pupils who took part - you did a great job.
  • Keep calm and go for it...

    Mon 11 Apr 2016

This half term we are focusing on our school value of independence. We will be encouraging the children to be trying hard to solve problems for themselves and keep persevering when things get difficult. To remind the children that this is our focus, you might notice posters around Greswold with 'Keep Calm and Go For It' on them to help remind our pupils to have a go at the challenges each day at school brings.
