  • A memorable occasion to cap a wonderful Jubilee Week here at Greswold!

    Fri 27 May 2022

School would like to thank all the families who attended our very successful Jubilee Picnic, a perfect end to a wonderful week celebrating the Platinum Jubilee.  School had already unveiled it's impressive Jubilee gallery to the whole school community whilst the pupils took part in numerous themed lessons and activities throughout the week, including a specially designed Jubilee lunch menu.

Bathed in glorious sunshine, Friday afternoon's picnic which involved live music and a special visit from HM Queen's representative Deputy Lieutenant Mr Burbidge, was the perfect way to finish the celebrations and welcome parents and families properly back into school which, for some, will have been for the first time in over two years!  Thank you to all involved for making it such a fantastic occasion.

  • Greswold OAA Success

    Fri 27 May 2022

Last week, a small group of Year 4 children took part in the first ever Outdoor Adventurous Activities (OAA) festival at Old Silhillians. The children had to take part in a variety of team work and communication tasks such as orienteering, directing other children and making silly faces out of P.E equipment. They all showed our Greswold values and the School Games values exceptionally well, resulting in a fabulous second place! Well done to all who took part!

  • Lots to celebrate in our House Point assemblies today!

    Wed 25 May 2022

This morning's House Point assemblies helped to celebrate the half term's value of independence and helped to emphasise how an individual's hard work, determination and ability to make the right choices can have a positive impact on not only themselves but other people around them and the school as a whole, perfectly exemplified by the whole school platinum jubilee celebrations and events.

Year 5 and 6 pupils who entered the King Henry VIII school art competition also received their well deserved certificates with two pupils, Tanushree and Shreya, given special prizes for their fabulous efforts.  All their entries have been displayed around school for everyone to enjoy and admire.

Certificates were also given to Maples (Y6), Sparrows (Y3) and Rabbits (Y2) for their attendance achievements this term too.

Finally, the Greswold House competition leader board is getting very exciting as St Patrick's accumulated the most points this half term meaning they're now only one point behind leaders, St George's.

  • The Jubilee Art Gallery is Open.

    Tue 24 May 2022

Monday saw the grand opening of our Jubilee Art Gallery. Many of our families visited and appreciated the art work on display. It was worth the wait for entrance as our children are so talented! Thank you to Miss Mears (History Lead) for organising our Jubilee Celebrations and leading in the creation of the art gallery.

    Wed 18 May 2022

This morning, the Living Street's (Travel Tracker) mascot Strider, joined our Walking Bus, along with several other extra families, to help promote Greswold's Active Travel campaign and Walk to School Week.  Everyone loved seeing Strider, giving him high-fives and hugs and having plenty of photographs taken with him.  Greswold would like to extend a special thank you to the families who joined us on our walk.

  • Greswold pupils showcasing their creativity yet again!

    Mon 09 May 2022

We're extremely proud to share some amazing pieces of artwork from a number of our year 5 and 6 pupils.  Miss Summers, Greswold's Art Subject Lead had invited the older children to participate in an national Open Art Competition and the creations below are the entries Greswold are sending.  I think you'll agree that they very much showcase the artistic talent and creativity of our pupils.

  • Our wonderful PTA are at it again!!

    Fri 06 May 2022

Yet again, the staff and pupils have had much to thank our wonderful PTA for.  Not only have they funded over £2000 worth of lunchtime equipment but school are also expecting a new football kit very soon paid for by them as well.  That's not all!  Additional Sportshall athletics equipment has been purchased by them and the PTA have also funded a substantial new book order for our school library.  The whole school community are very thankful for all the effort and energy the PTA demonstrate, all for the benefit of our Greswold pupils.  We are indeed very lucky!

  • Greswold's Active Travel campaign update: Week 4

    Mon 02 May 2022

We've reached the end of week 4 of our Active Travel campaign and more importantly we've reached the end of the second month, meaning it's time to be rewarded with a second badge.

According to the Travel Tracker report dated 2nd May, 177 pupils have now earned their second WOW badge.  However, if your child hasn't logged their active travel yet for the end of last week, don't worry, there's still time to earn that second badge.

So far, in total, 513 WOW badges have been won, a tremendous effort by the school community, with 93% of all logged journeys classed as active.  There's only three more weeks left.  If your family want to be in the running to win one of our exceptional prizes at the conclusion of the campaign then make sure you carry on travelling actively to school at least three times a week.  Those children who earn three WOW badges at the end of the campaign will have a chance of winning a bike, a scooter or a Fit-Bit!

Let's try to improve on the 43% level of engagement throughout the school.  Greswold is sure we can hit 60% by the end of the campaign!
