  • Prayers for Paris

    Tue 24 Nov 2015
After the tragic events in Paris Greswold shared a minute's silence so our pupils could have time to reflect. Mrs Marshall also set up a special area where children could write down their thoughts or prayers for the people affected.
  • Diwali Dancing

    Tue 17 Nov 2015
We were delighted to welcome dance expert Mr Kailey back to Greswold. He had come into school to lead a special assembly which focused on the story of Diwali and also got all our pupils up moving - ideal for first thing on a Monday. Throughout Monday and Tuesday, Mr Kailey and Mrs Kailey worked with every class in the school, leading a special dance workshop which explored the story of Diwali through music and movement. A huge thank you to Mr and Mrs Kailey for giving up their time to give our children a great experience.

  • Modeshift Stars

    Fri 13 Nov 2015
Earlier this year Greswold was awarded a ModeShift Stars bronze award for all our work promoting sustainable travel. Today Mrs Scott travelled to the Civic Suite in Solihull to receive the award on behalf of the school. She was accompanied by two pupils who had been involved in our push to get our community walking, scooting or cycling to school. The children also got to meet the mayor who celebrated our success.
  • Children in Need

    Fri 13 Nov 2015
Today our pupils (and many staff) looked rather different as many chose to come to school in their pyjamas. It was all in aid of a good cause - supporting Children in Need. Greswold's School Council had been involved in organising the day using ideas from their classes. The School Council members, with help from Mrs Cooper and Mrs Woodcock, also organised a cake sale after school. Many thanks to everyone who sent in cakes to sell and supported the day through visiting the sale and sending in donations for coming in non-uniform. All money raised will be sent to the charity to support their work.
  • Lest We Forget

    Wed 11 Nov 2015

It has been tradition at Greswold for many years that on Remembrance Sunday, pupils from Year 6 lay a poppy wreath at the war memorial in Solihull town centre. Two pupils, accompanied by Mrs Scott, laid the wreath on behalf our school as a sign of respect for all those service people who have been killed or injured in service to our country. Year 6 have also been selling poppies at playtimes on behalf of the Royal British Legion. The money raised will go to support the work of the charity.

The whole school also came together for a minute's silence at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the time in 1918 when the guns fell silent along the Western Front in Europe. The minute allowed our pupils and staff to reflect and pay tribute.
