  • Year 6 Leavers' Assembly

    Fri 17 Jul 2015

Today it was time for our Year 6 pupils to say goodbye to Greswold at their leavers' assembly. The pupils performed two songs from Sister Act and showed off their ukulele skills with a performance of the Cup Song. There were also plenty of anecdotes from the children's time at Greswold, which for some pupils has been 8 years.

We were pleased to welcome the mayor of Solihull Mrs Glenis Slater to our assembly. The mayor helped to present each of our leavers with a book and also awarded the special prizes to four pupils.

Everyone at Greswold wishes our Year 6 leavers' every success for the future. As the mayor said - go and let your light shine.

Parents can watch the slide show from the assembly here. On the Extranet there are pictures of the assembly, group shots of the year group posing and also you can visit the full Year 6 archive. Please note that your child will need to log in to access the secure area. Use solgrid\25initial surname (e.g. solgrid\25jbloggs) then your child should use the password they use in school.

  • Mrs Robson Retires

    Thu 16 Jul 2015

After nearly two decades at Greswold, Mrs Robson has decided it is time to retire. Over her time at school she has helped many children, parents and staff in her many roles which include Deputy Headteacher and Senco. In assembly, Mrs Scott thanked Mrs Robson for her dedication to Greswold and read out a message from Mr Bird (who was unable to be there in person). Mr Carnell also said some words and Mrs Slater presented Mrs Robson with a gift on behalf of the PTA. Each class had been busy creating cards which were then given to Mrs Robson to say thank you and wish her good luck.

We will certainly miss Mrs Robson at Greswold and wish her well for the future.

  • Goodbye to Mrs Howell and Mrs Finnegan

    Thu 16 Jul 2015

Today we wished two members of our teaching staff all the best as they leave Greswold to start their families. Mrs Finnegan, who has been covering Mrs Johnson's maternity in Year 6, is saying goodbye to Greswold at the end of this term. We wish her all the very best for her new arrival. Mrs Howell will be re-joining our staff after her maternity leave and we again wish her well.

To send their best wishes, children presented both Mrs Finnegan and Mrs Howell with cards containing special greetings from the pupils here at Greswold. The children are looking forward to meeting the babies at sometime in the new academic year.

  • Garden Sale

    Wed 15 Jul 2015
Greswold's community garden has produced its first crop of fruit and vegetables. Today we offered our community the chance to buy freshly picked produce including carrots, salad, onions and raspberries. All the money raised will go back into buying seeds and seedlings to plant later in the year.
  • Healthy School Award

    Wed 15 Jul 2015

Greswold has been re-validated as a Solihull Healthy School. Mrs Woodcock has been working to put together evidence off all the work we do at Greswold to promote healthy lifestyles for our pupils and staff. The panel who assessed Greswold felt we provided strong evidence and have even asked if they could share our excellent work with other schools. Well done to everyone who was involved!

  • Modeshift STARS - Bronze Award

    Wed 15 Jul 2015

Greswold is very proud of being awarded a Modeshift STARS accreditation for our work promoting sustainable travel. Modeshift STARS is the national schools awards scheme that has been established to recognise schools that have demonstrated excellence in supporting cycling, walking and other forms of sustainable travel. In the past academic year Greswold has offered Scootability in Year 1 and taster Bikeability sessions in Years 3 and 4. Year 5 have taken part in a week-long Bikeability course and Year 6 have worked with members of Solihull's team to promote walking or using public transport. We also can't forget Year 2 learning road safety as part of their Walk Smart programme and the whole school taking part in Walk to School Week.

The Modeshift scheme encourages schools right across the country to join in a major effort to increase levels of sustainable and active travel and in so doing, improve the health and well-being of children and young people. We will look to build on our successes when school begins again in September.

  • Year 6 Leavers' Party

    Sat 11 Jul 2015
As our Year 6 pupils come to the end of their time at Greswold, there was a chance for them to have a great time together at their leavers' party. A group of parents had organised a brilliant evening with a tropical beach party theme. The children loved playing with the inflatable pool animals and posing for the official photographer. There was also a disco and food - a winning combination. Many thanks to all the parents who made the evening happen.
  • PTA Summer Fun Day

    Sat 11 Jul 2015
It was a lovely summer's day for our PTA's Summer Family Fun Day. There was lots to do for all the family including stalls, games, bouncy castles and the barbecue. The highlight was the workshops and performances by Circus MASH who put on two shows and got everyone involved with circus skills. Many thanks to everyone who helped and came along to support the event. All the money raised will go back into supporting the pupils at Greswold.
  • House Music Festival

    Fri 10 Jul 2015

Each year our four school houses compete for a range of trophies. One of the most sought after is the House Music prize which is awarded after the House Music Festival. Children from Year 6 put together a programme of musical entertainment to demonstrate their house's talents. Each house also had to include a finale with everyone joining in.

The judges had a hard job deciding a winner as there was a great variety of acts this year. In the end it was St. Andrew's that was victorious - well done.
