  • Y6 Star Pupils

    Mon 15 May 2023

Every member of Y6 was awarded the Star Pupil award during Friday's assembly due to their perseverance, dedication and hard work during SATs week. Every child took it in their stride, tried their hardest and did themselves and the school proud. Well done Maples, Cedars and Willows.

  • Something to make us all proud of our Greswold family....

    Tue 09 May 2023

    Dear Ms Scott,

I am writing to congratulate you on your school’s achievements in the 2022 multiplication tables check.

Your average pupil score of 24 out of 25 makes Greswold Primary School one of the top 200 performing schools in England for the multiplication tables check. The excellent achievement of your pupils is something the Government hopes to see replicated in schools across the country.

Knowing times tables is vital for school and day-to-day life. Recalling multiplication and division facts up to 12x12 is important for progression in maths. That is why we recently introduced these checks, as a helpful tool for teachers to identify those pupils who need extra support.

I would like both to congratulate your staff and pupils for their hard work and success and to thank you for your leadership in continuing to promote the important subject of mathematics.

    Yours sincerely,

The Rt Hon Nick Gibb MP

    Minister for Schools

  • Coronation

    Fri 05 May 2023

The children delighted staff by singing their new Coronation song in assembly this morning.

As a school, we are working towards planting bedding plants to enhance our school environment as well as creating small box shrubs in the shape of King Charles cypher. All children are also making a pledge to make the world a better place. Our assembly theme this week has been 'How do you choose to celebrate significant events?'

Greswold wishes all families an enjoyable Bank Holiday weekend and Coronation celebrations. You may wish to watch this short video  https://coronation.gov.uk/inside-the-coronation/

  • Walk to School Week is coming soon!

    Thu 04 May 2023

To coincide with year's Sports' Days, we're continuing the fitness theme with this year's Walk to School Week.

We would like to challenge families to travel sustainably by walking, scooting, cycling or, for families that live further away, parking at least 5 minutes away from school and walking the remaining journey. The more families that travel to school sustainably the more we will reduce the amount of pollution outside school, meaning that the air that all our children breathe will be cleaner and less damaging to young lungs. It will also help to reduce traffic and improve road safety outside school.

Research has shown that children who walk to school concentrate better in class as well as being well on their way to reaching their recommended 60 minutes minimum of physical activity per day.

What do I need to do as a parent/carer? We would ask you to support your child/children so that they can travel actively to school and take part in this term’s Walk to School week.

Don't forget that our Living Streets' Travel Tracker has been continuing throughout the whole year and for more details of this, click onto our Sustainable Travel page in the Parents section of the website.

  • Football Friendly Festival success!

    Thu 04 May 2023

Thank you to Dicken's Heath School for travelling over to Lode Heath School on Tuesday to play our rearranged football friendly festival.

3 games took place simultaneously.  Firstly, a Y5 and Y6 team comprising of 13 girls dominated their match finishing 7-2 winners.  The Y6 boys' B team also won their match 3-0 and finally, the Y5 boys' team defeated their opponents 4-0, which bodes very well for next year when they will be representing the school.

Well done to all the pupils involved and to their families for offering such wonderful support too.

  • School Council unveil a new food waste initiative!

    Thu 04 May 2023

As a result of discussions and work by members of Greswold's school council, they have now unveiled a new food waste recycling bin on the playground.

It was previously noted that food waste along with general waste were being put in the same bins on the playground.  Similar to what happens in the hall at lunchtimes, the children suggested we adopt a new system to separate these different forms of waste to ensure the school expands its recycling programme and maintain our environment even further.

Well done children for being such wonderful role models!

  • Former headteacher returns to promote our Greswold Sponsored Walk, all in aid of Educaid!
