Schools’ Football Week (SFW), which will be held in partnership with Pokémon from the 31 March – 6 April 2025, is a week-long celebration of the many varying benefits of schools’ football – which, essentially, is the act of children playing and learning though football, with friends, within their school environment.
Here at Greswold, we are celebrating the event in lots of different ways, as you can see below:
- Our new KS2 lunchtime timetable for spring and summer launches this week which will enable more children to access football at lunchtime, if they choose to.
- Lunchtime Play Leaders will help to encourage younger children to take part in football related activities.
- Years'3 and 4 pupils will get the chance to take part in lunchtime football coaching sessions with the Football Development Scheme.
- Children will be allowed to bring in Pokemon trading cards, as well as other trading cards, to play with during the week too.
- House Points will be given out to pupils who are showing our school values whilst taking part in football related activities.
- A football friendly festival involving Our Lady of Compassion, Dicken's Heath and Greswold has been organised for Thursday 1st May at Lode Heath school. This will be for years' 5 and 6 pupils who have attended lunchtime football clubs but have not yet had the chance to represent the school team.
- We would also like to encourage parents to email photos of their children, particularly girls, playing football out of school, for their clubs, in the garden or at the park. These will then be displayed on our website as a way of promoting the week and also the benefits of football related activities.
- A Greswold football chant fun competition with children being challenged to write/create a chant involving the school name Greswold, just for a it of fun!
