These are some of the charity donations from the past few years

 

When Mrs Day left Greswold in July 2014 she adopted two elephants on behalf of our pupils. The elephants are being looked after by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and she is sure that the children will enjoy reading about their progress.

 

Charity Donations

 

Educaid Africa - Money donated after our Key Stage 2 Christmas performance in December 2014 was given to Educaid Africa. £386

 

Acorns - A charity collection after our Christmas performances by Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 all went towards supporting Acorns. £380

 

Children in Need - Our pupils came to school in their own clothes in November 2014 in return for a donation to the charity. £634

 

Age UK - In February 2014, our pupils once again donned their woolly hats to support Age UK's Bobble Day. This year the children also got to make a giant bobble. £243

 

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People - Children have raised money to continue supporting the training of hearing dogs. They were delighted to welcome Eli the cockerpoo in a special assembly to receive a cheque. £145

 

Educaid Africa - Money donated after our Key Stage 2 Christmas performance in December 2013 was given to Educaid Africa. This will continue to support the education of children in Kenya. £410

 

Acorns - Donations given after our Reception, Nursery, Year 1 and 2 Christmas performances in December 2013 were passed on to Acorn's Hospice which offers support to life limited children, young people and their families £580

 

Children in Need - In November 2013 children and staff dressed up as super heroes to support the BBC charity. £509

 

Marie Curie - As part of our Kindness Week in November 2013, our pupils planted daffodil bulbs to support Marie Curie Cancer Care. The children also came to school dressed in yellow and green. £370

 

Macmillan Cancer Relief - In September 2013, Greswold's staff enjoyed a cake and a cup of tea to support Macmillan Cancer Relief's 'World's Biggest Coffee Morning'. £167.75

 

Educaid Africa - As part of our Health Week in July 2013, children took part in a sponsored walk to support Educaid. The children completed laps of the school or field and raised a fantastic amount to support the education of children in Kenya.   £2700

 

Comic Relief - In March 2013, Greswold got baking to Support Comic Relief. Each class made cakes then ran stalls to sell them to pupils and parents. The staff also got creative with their own competition. £866

 

Age UK - In February 2013 Greswold put on their woolly hats and brought £1 to support Age UK. The children came in a great selection of headwear to highlight the importance of keeping older people warm during the winter. £380

 

Educaid Africa - Key Stage 2's Christmas performance in 2012 raised money so Greswold can continue to support the education of children in Keyna. £402

 

Guide Dogs - Money donated after our Foundation Key Stage and Key Stage 1 Christmas performances during December 2012 went towards sponsoring two guide dog puppies. Kara and Scooby, both labrador cross puppies, have visited Greswold to thank the children. The children loved meeting the dogs and finding out about the work they will be doing at Guide Dog School. £554

 

Children in Need - 2012's Children in Need fund raising involved pupils (and staff) coming to school dressed in their pyjamas. A donation of £1 was requested, with all money going towards the charity. £545

 

Macmillan Cancer Support - In September 2012, Greswold staff again took part in the 'Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning' to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Mrs Guy came back to Greswold to help organise the event. £123

 

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People - Our celebrations to mark the Queen's diamond jubilee included the challenge to 'cover the Queen in coins'. Children brought in spare change which was donated to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People - a fantastic charity who help people who are deaf remain independent through the help of a canine companion. Thanks to all the parents who emptied their change jars for the appeal. £325

 

Sports Relief - To support this year's Sports Relief we held a themed non-uniform day. Children could wear something red or white for the day for a donation to the charity. During the day there were some special sporting activities including an aerobics session on the Key Stage 2 playground. There was also a cake sale organised by pupils in Year 5 which raised over £50.   £510

 

Educaid Africa - Our Key Stage 2 Christmas production in December 2011 helped to raise more money to support Educaid. Families who had enjoyed the concert generously donated towards this cause. £400

 

Children with Cancer UK - After one of our ex-pupils was diagnosed with cancer, it was decided to donate money raised with our Foundation Key Stage and Key Stage 1 Christmas productions to support other children in the same situation. £770

 

Children in Need - A non-uniform day, biscuit sale and 'pennies for Pudsey' all helped to raise money for this charity. Our School Council helped to organise the day, including baking the biscuits with Mrs Hinman. £738

 

The Royal British Legion - Children from Year 6 sold poppies for the charity at break times which were proudly worn by pupils and staff. Two representatives from Year 6 also laid a wreath at the war memorial at St. Alphege Church in memory of the soldiers who have died fighting in wars. £178

 

Educaid Africa - Our annual sponsored walk in November 2011 raised money to support pupils with their education in Kenya. £2370

 

Macmillan Cancer Support - Greswold staff took part in the 'Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning' to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Teachers and other staff who work in school baked or bought cakes, which were duly enjoyed over a cup of tea or coffee at break time. £127

 

Solihull Hospital - To celebrate Mr King's many years as a Greswold teacher, we held a special sponsored run and asked Mr King to choose a charity. As Mr King's dad has spent time in Solihull Hospital, he decided he would donate the money to Ward 8 to help build a special garden for the patients. The amount raised to celebrate Mr King's retirement was fantastic and the staff at the hospital were very grateful. £3633

 

World Land Trust - In June 2011, Year Three raised money to support the World Land Trust to save endangered rainforests by having a sponsored cycle and scoot around the field. Over the past years, Greswold have helped to protect many acres of rainforests. £604
