The boys' school football team were back in action last night playing their second and third league matches of the season and what an exciting couple of games they were for the watching spectators.
First up were Monkspath and after falling a goal behind in the first half, the Greswold players never let their heads go down and deservedly scored in the second half to draw level through Lenny. Unfortunately, they couldn't quite manage to get that all important winner despite heavy pressure by the team in the closing stages. Final result: Monkspath 1 Greswold 1.
The second match of the night pitted Greswold against Valley Primary resulting in a rarity for school football with the match ending 0-0. It's difficult to fathom why though as each team had plenty of opportunities to score the winner with Valley's goalkeeper making some excellent saves. However the game was played in the right spirit with positive values on show throughout.
Two positive results in a league which is going to go right down to the wire. Watch this space.....
