Everyone at Greswold are very proud to announce that the school has been awarded the School Games Sportsmark Platinum Award.
The "Sportsmark Platinum Award" refers to the School Games Mark Platinum Award, a government-led scheme that recognises schools for their consistent commitment to sports and physical activity. To earn this, a school must have consistently achieved the School Games Mark Gold award for several years and successfully submit a detailed case study which demonstrates their ongoing high-level provision for sports, competition, and physical activity.
For the past five years, Greswold has achieved the Gold Sportsmark, allowing us to become eligible to apply for the Platinum Award. A case study was submitted in July and we have now received confirmation that we've been successful.
School sport and activity is something incredibly important to us here at Greswold and something which goes beyond the classroom and the even the curriculum itself. We believe that being active not only has positive physical benefits but also helps to develop pupils socially and personally while maintaining a healthy mental wellbeing and providing memorable experiences of representing the school at inter-school events.
The staff require a huge amount of credit, giving up their personal time in volunteering to supervise and manage children at a whole host of these inter-school events. Our amazing lunchtime team, including Play Leaders, help to instigate so many games and physical activities at lunchtimes and our pupils engage with these opportunities on a regular basis. We monitor the physical wellbeing of all pupils and intervene when necessary, especially at lunchtime and lesson time, to esnure they develop a positive outlook in relation to sport and activity.
This award is the perfect recognition of everyone's hard work and dedication and something we should all be very proud of.
