Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) takes place on 27 January each year and is a time to remember the millions of people who died during the Holocaust, under Nazi Persecution and in the genocides which followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
Greswold were generously invited to attend a service at the Civic Suite in the morning of the 25th Jan with dignitaries including the Mayor, the Chief Executive of Solihull Council and the Lord Lieutenant. The pupils who attended with Miss Carpenter left a message on behalf of the school in the book of remembrance. The guest speaker at the event was Dr Martin Stern, a holocaust survivor.
In the afternoon, the 3 pupils who attended also got the opportunity to speak to Dr Stern, himself, and got to hear about how things were for him when the war started and how he ended up in a concentration camp.
The children were incredibly respectful, as always, and represented the school impeccably at such an important event.
