Phonics

 

To start your phonics session have a go at recapping some phase sounds and tricky words. Choose a different set of digraphs, blends or words to recap each day.

This week in phonics we are recapping all of the ways we can make the long e sound. Write down all the ways you can make the long e sound and then think of some words with those digraphs.

Please read with your child for 15-20 minutes each day by choosing a free ebook from the correct book band using the Oxford Owl website here. This can be done in one chunk or broken up into smaller chunks throughout the day. Please send a Tapestry message to your child's class teacher to find out which coloured band your child is on.

This week in phonics we are recapping all of the ways we can make the long e sound. Today we are looking at the digraph 'ie' making both the long e and long i sound. Have a go at sorting the words linked below by the sound they make.

Divide the box into the correct amount of parts, and share out each number equally among each both. Then count up the dots in the correct amount of boxes to find the fraction of each amount. Choose your level of challenge.

Read through the information all about Lent. during Lent, Christians give something up for 40 days and 40 nights. Draw a picture of something that you could give up for lent and write a sentence to explain whether it would be difficult for you and why.

Use the pictures to help you to find the fractions of each number. To find one half, draw a line to split the array in half and count up one part. To find one quarter, draw lines to split the array in to 4 parts and count up one part.

Role-play what happens when you feel poorly. What do you look like? Who else is there? What do you do to help yourself feel better? Include how eating healthy food, drinking lots of fluids and taking some medicines can help us feel better.
