Play the 'Race to the Moon 'or'' game with a member of your family. Remember to read the word you land on. If you do not have a printer or counters at home you could use your finger to keep track of your place in the game.

Please read with your child for 15-20 minutes each day by choosing a free ebook from the correct book band using the Oxford Owl website here. This can be done in one chunk or broken up into smaller chunks throughout the day. Please send a Tapestry message to your child's class teacher to find out which coloured band your child is on.

This week we will be reading 'Once Upon a Time' by Chris Riddell. Click here to watch the pre recorded lesson. 

 

Answer the retrieval and inference questions about the first few pages of the story either verbally, on a blank piece of paper or the 'Once Upon a Wild Wood Retrieval and Inference Questions' document.

Complete the challenge by matching the map symbols to the correct feature or landmark. If you are unable to print out the work you could have a go at drawing the map symbols or play the map symbol matching game linked below (please be aware that this game includes symbols not included on the pre recorded lesson).

Using the 'aw sound buttons sheet' add sound buttons to the 'aw' words. Remember digraphs and trigraphs like 'aw' need a line and graphemes like 'i' only need a dot. If you are unable to print the work write the words out before adding the sound buttons.

Discuss what Mummy and Daddy Bear might be saying to Little Green Cape after catching her in their cave. Think carefully about how they might react to finding another little girl in their home without being invited. Write down your ideas on the 'Bears Speech Bubble' sheet or on a blank piece of paper. You could also act it out and upload it to Tapestry.

Have a go at spelling the words with all of the 'or' digraphs using the 'phonics activity-or, au, aw' sheet. For an extra challenge try writing some silly sentence using words with each 'or' digraph.

If you think you can help Mr. Big out write your instructions on lined paper. Don't forget his eyesight is not that great so we need beautiful handwriting! I know he will also be keeping a great big eye out for full stops, capital letters, conjunctions and time connectives.

Set yourself a goal such as making a sandwich independently, learning a mew skill, making the bed etc.

 

What steps will you need to make to complete this goal?

 

Write them down and then follow them step by step to achieve your goal.

 

For example:

 

Goal: Making a jam sandwich

 

  1. Collect your ingredients and equipment.
  2. Place bread on a chopping board.
  3. Spread butter on both pieces of bread.
  4. Spread jam on one piece of bread.
  5. Put one piece of bread butter side down on top of the other.
  6. Use a knife to cut your sandwich in half or quarters.
  7. Put your sandwich on a plate.
  8. Eat your sandwich.
