Phonics
To start your phonics session have a go at recapping some phase sounds and tricky words. Choose a different set of digraphs, blends or words to recap each day.
Linked below are the Year 1 and 2 common exception words. Your child should be able to read and spell the Year 1 common exception words by the end of Year 1. If your child is confident with reading and spelling the Year 1 common exception words try learning to read and spell the Year 2 common exception words.
Today's recap blend is 'st'. Use the pictures in the pre recorded phonics lesson to write all of the 'st' words that you can see.
This week we are focusing on using the soft 'c'.
Play a game of noughts and crosses with a member of your household. Read the words with a soft 'c' and mark 3 words off in a row with a x or o. If you are unable to print the game board, create your own by copying the word grids down onto a piece of paper.

This week in Guided Reading our focus story is 'Once Upon a Dragon's Fire' by Beatrice Blue. Click here to watch the pre-recorded lesson. Match the vocabulary with the correct definition, and then use one of the words in a sentence.
English
In English this week, we are looking at the fairy tale 'Hansel and Gretel' and we will also be focusing on adding the suffix 'ed' to turn a verb into the past tense. Watch the pre-recorded video to recap adding the suffix 'ed' to verbs. Your activity today to is to play the 'ed' suffix board game. Be careful if you are choosing to complete the hot task today, sometimes adding 'ed' is not that simple!
Maths
This week in maths, we will be learning how to double number. Watch the pre-recorded lesson to find out how. In todays activity, you will be doubling numbers from 1-20 using butterflies. Draw the correct amount of dots on to one wing of the butterfly, and double it by copying it onto the other. If you are unable to print, draw out your own butterflies on a blank piece of paper.
Science
In science this week, we are learning about the four seasons. Watch the pre-recorded video to learn about the four seasons in the year.
Your activity today is to draw pictures to represent each season. Think about the weather that appears in each season and any celebrations that occur. If you are unable to print the worksheet below, draw your own seasons wheel on a blank piece of paper.

Today we will continue learning about our focus sound of the soft 'c'. Then, spell the soft 'c' word that describes the picture by using the letters at the bottom of the page. If you have a printer you can cut and stick the letters to create each word, but if you do not have a printer, you could use the letters to spell out the words on a piece of paper.
Complete the sentences below by filling in the missing split digraph word. If you are unable to print, write the completed sentences down on a piece of paper.

This week, we are focusing on using the suffix 'ed' to turn verbs into the past tense. Click here to watch today's pre-recorded lesson. Your activity today is to edit the sentences to turn them into the past tense. As well as adding the suffix 'ed', you may also need to add in capital letter, a full stop and an adjective! Write your edited sentences out on a blank piece of paper.
Maths
Today in maths, you will be using your doubling skills to solve some word problems. Watch Miss Evans teach you how to answer some similar word problems in the pre-recorded video.
Art
Draw or build your very own castle. You can use whatever materials you have around the house to create your castle, such as bottles, boxes, card, paint, or even just a simple paper and pen (make sure you ask your parents if you can use some of these items). Your castle must include features that you have learned about in history this week.
