Greswold remembers...

During assemblies this week, we turned our thoughts to poppies which are worn at this time of year as a sign of remembrance but also hope for the future. On Sunday, two pupils from Y6 will lay a wreath of poppies at the war memorial in Solihull on behalf of Greswold.

Every year a silence is held throughout the country at 11 o’clock in the morning of the 11th November and the following words are read:

They shall not grow old

As we who are left grow old

Age shall not weary them

Nor the years condemn

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We shall remember them

We will now stand in silence for one minute followed by a prayer.

Dear God,

We shall remember those who have lived and died in the service of others.

We pray for all who suffer through war and are in need.

We ask for your help and blessing to do good in the world you have made.

And to live in peace and harmony with one another and with you.

Amen.
