Year 5 Learning

 

This week we will be learning:

 

Maths - The focus will be finding the equivalence between fractions, decimals and percentages.

English - The children will be learning how to use semi-colons in a list then using this when writing an inspection report for a Victorian workhouse.

 

Foundation subjects - half term overview

 

Geography - This half term, the children will be learning about the Victorian era in Britain. They will be finding out what life was like for people during this time and how social conditions and technology changed between 1837 and 1901. 

Science - We will be learning about materials. They children will explore the properties of materials, how they can be separated and changed. This will include reversible and irreversible changes.  

D&T - Our focus is on mechanisms and we will be finding out how to use cams to create a toy.

Computing - The children will be learning how networks operate and developing strategies to search the World Wide Web safely. 

MFL - The children will be learning Spanish throughout Year 5. This half term we will be on saying what the weather is like.

PSD - This half term's unit is 'Dreams and goals'. The children will be looking ahead to their future and considering careers, as well as how goals can be achieved

PE - Indoor PE this half term is dance. Outdoor PE will focus on using throwing, catching, striking and fielding skills to play games.
