Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
It was lovely to welcome so many parents and families from our school community for the first of our Parent Consultation evenings this week.
As always, thank you for visiting the Book Fair in the library as Greswold receives commission on all sales, which we then use to purchase books ourselves. On this occasion, we aim to use the commission to purchase books for every classroom library which will include year group curriculum topics, stories by authors from different backgrounds and stories from a range of cultures which reflect the demographic of our pupil population.
This week, children who earned a WOW badge for September's Travel Tracker, will receive their award. School have received the first four months’ worth of badges for this year's theme of 'Walk with Joy'. 120 badges will be given out by the end of the week.
However, this amounts to only 22% of the pupil population engaging with the Travel Tracker on a regular basis. Well done to Y5 Elms who are the role models in logging their journeys. They achieved an engagement percentage of 81% which is brilliant. This means, they received the monthly prize of winning our new mascot, Little Strider.
Let's see which class will win Little Strider for October. Hopefully, we can also push the whole school engagement percentage of 22% up towards 30% too.
Most KS2 pupils can use classroom based devices to record their journeys, however pupils in EYFS and KS1 will need parental input out of school to log their journeys, details of which can be found by clicking on the link below:

This afternoon, 10 pupils from Y3-6 visited a local school to take part in a special fundraising event organised by the pupils from the Triple Crown centre.
Pupils from the Triple Crown centre attend Greswold on Monday afternoons to read with year 1 pupils so it was the turn of Greswold to pay back the favour.
Triple Crown were hosting a special coffee afternoon for the MacMillan Trust so 10 children from our Young Carers group, accompanied by Mr Hornsey, Mrs Rochelle and Miss Carpenter, walked down to take part in the lovely event. Book sales, cake sales, a raffle and different games were on offer for the children to enjoy.
Thank you to the pupils and staff of Triple Crown for kindly inviting us and well done to the children who attended as their behaviour was impeccable.
On Monday evening, 12 year 5 pupils represented the school at this year's Y5 Dodgeball festival, a 'Develop' event which promotes the School Games values of honesty, teamwork and respect.
The children formed two Greswold teams and played 5 games each with each team scoring the opposition out of 5 for each of the values they demonstrated.
Greswold's pupils not only demonstrated those School Games values in abundance but always showed our Greswold values throughout too.
Well done children, you were a credit to the whole school.
Both St George's and St Andrew's sit at the top of this academic year's House Point Leaderboard after the results were revealed for the first half term during this morning's assembly.
Y5 Elms were winners of the new monthly Travel Tracker prize, Little Strider, with an impressive engagement percentage of 81% for September. The whole school average is only 22% so that's a magnificent achievement!
Y4 Skylarks have achieved the best attendance so far this year with 97.6%, closely followed by Y3 Robins (97.2%) and Y6 Cedars (97%).
As a prelude to our first series of Parent Consultations next week, here's a sneak peek at what parents will be able to expect. The children have been busily working hard as usual with the numerous display boards around the corridors of school now ready to showcase their marvellous learning. Some displays have already been updated. Here's a sneak peek of what to expect....
Following Greswold's successful funding application from National Highways which contrinuted to the regeneration of several areas around school, we have been sent the press release from their media department. You can view the release in the gallery below.
St Helen's Church, the venue of our Harvest Festival on Monday, will be hosting a special craft event this coming Friday. Check out the gallery below for more details.
Last week, School Councillors in Years' 4-6 along with Y6 House Captains were invited to a special Sustainability workshop delivered by some visitors from RAFT,
Retrofit Action For Tomorrow (RAFT) is a not-for-profit community interest company responding to the climate emergency by accelerating energy and emissions reductions, resource efficiency and climate resilience in schools and communities. RAFT’s mission is to help schools become healthy, zero-carbon, climate-resilient communities by combining a fun, active and educational programme with professional retrofit expertise. For the Great British Energy programme, RAFT will be delivering workshops with selected schools to engage the school community, through learning about the works being done at your school.
The session involved looking at how to save energy around our school site, a visit to the boiler room with our site manager and creating pledges about changes we can individually make to live more sustainably. The children engaged brilliantly in the workshop and were praised for their enthusiasm and existing knowledge on sustainability issues.
Please also see the attached photo for some ideas of 'quick wins' you can implement in your own homes to save energy!
The visit coincided nicely with the publishing of our Climate Action Plan, a statutory document all schools now need to provide. The feedback from the children was very positive and we thank RAFT for providing us with this very worthwhile opportunity.
Last week, all the children found out about this year's sponsored event, an idea put together by the children of our very own School Council. Below is the presentation Mrs Foster shared with the children. We're very much looking forward to the event taking place this coming Monday.
