Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Rowing fever has taken over Year 6 this term as Mr Isles invited pupils from Cedars, Willows and Maples to develop their skills in readiness for this year's annual School Games competition.
The enthusiasm of the children, with over half of the children in year 6 attending training, meant that Mr Isles was able to enter extra teams. In total, 7 teams and 28 pupils represented the school at the girls., boys. and SEND Area Final events.
The training well and truly paid off with Greswold team 1 placing 2nd in their girls' event, Greswold team 1 placing 1st in theirs and our SEND team placing 2nd in their event. These magnificent achievements mean each of those team will now go onto compete in the County Finals in March.
Unfortunately, due to circumstances out of our hands, the date of the event coincides with the Sportshall Athletics Area Final meaning pupils from the other rowing teams, who also did well, will now get the chance to step up and replace their colleagues and row for the school in the County Final, a real team effort. Well done everyone.
On Tuesday 10th February, our Year 6 Basketball Team attended the second part of our South Solihull School Games Basketball tournament (after playing the first part in November) at St Peter's School.
The event was a Develop event meaning the winners were not solely based on points and ability but also the way they demonstrated the School Games values throughout.
The team itself worked incredibly well and were a credit to their teachers, their families and the whole school. They managed to outscore every school they played including victories against St Patrick's, Balsall Common and Tidbury Green which was magnificent. What was even more pleasing was the team scored the highest points available for the School Games values of honesty, respect and teamwork as well, voted for by each umpire, which also helped to cement the team's overall victory.
While their basketball skills must be admired, the fact that each team member demonstrated Greswold values at all times throughout the competition is just as pleasing and important. Well done to the team, everyone at Greswold is very proud of you.

Well done to St Patrick's who won the most house points for this half term. It means they've closed the gap on third placed St George's with St Andrew's still out in the lead at the halfway mark.
Children's Mental Health week was also introduced to the KS2 pupils with our value of success also being explored through the Winter Olympic Games which started this weekend. Ar eally immersive promo was used to raise awareness of the games which you can access below:

This week, 99 WOW badges were given to happy children as a reward for their engagement in January's Travel Tracker. However, whole school engagement was only at 17%, well down on the figure this time last year. Hopefully, February can help turn our fortunes round and school can distribute more badges next month.
The return of the WOW badge art competition may help as KS2 pupils get a chance to design next year's WOW badges with three winners being sent off for the national competition at the end of February. The competition was revealed to the children today in House Point assembly.
This morning, the fire service based at Bournbrook in Birmingham visited the children in Reception, courtesy of Mrs Mitchell's brother who is based there.
As you can see, the children had an amazing time and even got to operate the water hoses! And why not, it was raining anyway!!!!
Thank you to Mrs Mitchell, and her brother, for organising such an immersive experience.
The boys' school football team continued their league season last night at Solihull Moors with an entertaining match against Langley Primary.
Without any substitutions, the players acquitted themselves really well to remain competitive throughout and actually took the lead in the first half through a goal by Ollie.
However, despite the Langley goalkeeper making some fine saves in the second half, Langley were able to score an equaliser and take the lead with a few minutes remaining. Despite applying heavy pressure in the final moments of the match, Greswold couldn't quite score the all-important equaliser, and the match ended 2-1 to Langley.
Although disappointed, the players could be proud of their contribution to an enthralling game and were perfect ambassadors for our school. There are still three matches to go this season so plenty to play for in what remains a very tight league. Fingers crossed for the next match.
On Wednesday, 28th January, five outstanding pupils were invited to enjoy Afternoon Tea with the Mayor. Their invitations were in recognition of their recent nominations for the SEND Awards.
We extend our warmest congratulations to each of them:
Well done to all five pupils for this exceptional achievement. Their hard work, character, and contributions to our school community are truly commendable.
Below is a front page article from the Solihull Observer detailing planned roadworks for Warwick Road and surrounding roads in the coming weeks. Vehicle using families may want to use alternative routes during this time.
Year 3 pupils and staff had an incredibly immersive day of learning last week as part of their history topic on Ancient Egypt. The children and staff looked fabulous in their costumes which made the day even more enjoyable. Well done to our whole school community (pupils, staff, parents and PTA) for engaging in such a memorable learning experience.
