An external provider but a parent from school will be introducing 'Relax Kids' to other parents, which will be provided as an after school club after half term. Children from Years 1 to 4 will be having an opportunity to experience this in school. Their aim is to enable your child to be more resilient and teaches them the tools to manage their physical, emotional and mental health and well being.

  • Our Year 6 authors

    Thu 18 Oct 2018
After reading The Highway Rat by Julia Donaldson, pupils from Year 6 were inspired to write their own stories based on the book. The children worked in groups to write and illustrate their own books which were fantastic. When they were finished, Year 2 were the audience and our older children got to retell their stories to pupils in Key Stage 1. Well done to our up and coming authors in Year 6. We are very proud of you.

    Thu 18 Oct 2018 L. Beddow

The Book Fair has arrived in school! This October the Book Fair is being provided by The Book People. The children will enjoy browsing the books and hearing some of the stories during their library time this week.  Please come and see us in the library at the Parent Consultation Evenings on either Wednesday 24th or Thursday 25th October.  Why not have your bedtime story in the library before you head home?  Last entry will be 18:45pm please.  Many thanks in advance for your support.

    Happy reading and browsing!

    Mrs L Beddow (School Librarian).

  • Y4 Maths Challenge at KES

    Sat 06 Oct 2018
Congratulations to our Year 4 Maths team who represented Greswold at KES on a Friday. They tackled the cross number challenge with determination and focus scoring 49/51. Staff from other schools commented on their resilience, patience and enthusiasm. Next was the face-paced speed round which they tackled with attention to detail scoring 24 points. Overall our team was awarded 3rd place with  just 3 points separating 1st place from 3rd place. Well done.
  • Educaid Africa donation

    Mon 24 Sep 2018

Today Greswold welcomed our former headteacher Mr Carnell to our assembly. He was at school to receive a cheque on behalf of the charity Educaid Africa - a charity that supports young people in Kenya to access education. At the end of the summer term, our current Year 3 children put on a fantastic performance of Animal Rumble Grumble - a story set in Africa. A collection was taken at the end of the show and thanks to the generosity of the parents who came, £120.78 was raised. It was decided that Educaid would be a fitting charity for the donation. We know that the money will go to good use in helping children in Kenya to go to school or college. Many thanks to everyone who donated.

  • Greswold's 60th anniversary - Spot the difference

    Sat 22 Sep 2018
Greswold's grounds have changed a lot over the past 60 years. Here are a few places around the school. Can you spot how they have changed?
  • Greswold celebrates its 60th anniversary

    Fri 21 Sep 2018

It was in September 1958 that Greswold first opened its doors to children. Its first headteacher was Marjorie Askew and the school was located in what is now our Key Stage 1 classrooms. Over the years the school has split into an infant and junior school (with the Key Stage 2 block being opened in 1961), recombined into a primary school in the 1980s, expanded to three form entry, dropped to two form entry and is now currently expanding to three form again!

Today we celebrated Greswold's 60th birthday with a special themed day. Miss Mears, our History Lead, introduced the day with a video about 1958. The school then mixed up and got to try different themed activities including learning music from 1958, looking at fashion from 1958, hula hooping and creating artwork based around the peace symbol which was designed in 1958. There was also a hunt around the school looking for how the site has changed over the past 60 years.

At the end of the day we had a musical assembly with each year group presenting a song which was released in 1958. Parents can listen to these songs in the Musical Performances part of the website. So happy birthday, Greswold! 60 years young.
