Many thanks to everyone who supported our cake sale for Children in Need by making cakes or buying them. Our total before the cake sale is over £400 so we will update you with a final amount which will be donated to the charity.
To commemorate 100 years since the end of World War I, our pupils took part in a whole-school writing event. All of Greswold's pupils, from the youngest to the oldest, reflected on the occasion and produced a wide range of writing including diaries, poems, interviews, reports and letters. Miss Nock has selected some of the pieces produced for a special display near to the main school office. You can see some pictures of the the work below.
Children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 had a different lesson on the timetable today with a yoga session from Nichola from True Colours Yoga. The children learnt different yoga poses on their own and with a partner. They will be following up the learning with sessions in their classes next week as part of our school-wide Respect week. We hope that the yoga lesson was enjoyable and will give our pupils a way they can help themselves to relax.
Greswold supported Children in Need today with a non-uniform day. Children came to school in their own clothes for a donation of £1 to the charity. Lots of children wore Pudsey bear inspired clothing and assembly was full of teddy bear ears, Children in Need t-shirts, spotty jumpers and even a few Pudsey bears. Many thanks parents for your donations. They will all be passed onto the charity.
Today Greswold marked Remembrance day with a minute's silence at 11:00. The whole school have also been reflecting upon the centenary of the end of World War I by taking part in a writing event, with each class producing work inspired by the war.
On Sunday, two Year 6 pupils represented Greswold by attending the Remembrance Service at the War Memorial in Solihull. They also laid a wreath of poppies on behalf of the whole Greswold school community.
Pupils from Year 6 have been raising money to support the Royal British Legion by selling poppies at lunchtimes and breaktimes. Children from other year groups have been able to bring in money to buy the poppies and it as been great to see lots of poppies being worn with pride around Greswold.
Today almost 100 parents (with some little ones!) visited Greswold for the open morning for prospective Nursery and Reception parents. They were shown around by more than 30 Y6 pupils who were great ambassadors for the school and answered lots of questions. There will be a repeat Open Morning on Friday 30th November at 10am for parents who may have children eligible for Nursery 2019 or Reception 2019.
Pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 came together to for our annual harvest festival. There were communal songs including Harvest Praise and each year group performed their own song to the rest of the school. Many thanks for all the donations that have been passed on to residents of The Hermitage and to the charity Helping Hands.
Thank you for donating food items for our Harvest Festival today. The corridor certainly looked different this morning. Thank you also to members of the PTA who organised the donations into harvest boxes for The Hermitage and bags for Helping Hands.
