  • EKO Club

    Tue 16 Jan 2018
Greswold's new EKO (Educating Kids Outdoors) Club have been enjoying spending time in the Nature Area. This evening Miss Ogden showed the group of Year 2 children how to make their own wands from branches and other natural materials before they got to explore the Nature Area, make dens and play in the mud kitchen. Great fun!
  • Greswold congratulates Mr Carnell MBE

    Tue 16 Jan 2018
Today Greswold said well done to our former headteacher, Mr Carnell. It was announced in the Queen's New Years Honours that Mr Carnell's work with young people in Solihull has been recognised and celebrated. As well as working at Greswold for 25 years (as a teacher and head), he has also been involved with the scouts (for over 50 years), is a governor at two schools and still continues to work with children at Greswold supporting Maths. In a special assembly, Mrs Scott presented Mr Carnell with a card and plant on behalf of the school. He has agreed to come back and talk to the children once he has received the award at Buckingham Palace. Well done, Mr Carnell.
  • The fox is called...

    Wed 20 Dec 2017
There were lots of different names suggested for Greswold's new resident fox. In the end it was decided that he will be called Freddie.
  • Christmas Dinner Day

    Tue 19 Dec 2017
Today is the last day of term and also the day the children enjoyed their Christmas dinner. The kitchen team had been busy preparing turkey and vegetarian bake for everyone to enjoy. There were also crackers to make the meal festive - complete with hats and terrible jokes. Mrs Scott also helped serve the dinner to the children.
  • The Fox and The Star

    Mon 18 Dec 2017
All children will be participating in two very special theme days to finish off the Autumn term in style. Mrs Foster launched 'The Fox and The Star' in assembly this morning and staff read the story aloud. Children will engage in writing and art activities linked to the story which will be displayed in school and shared with others. A fantastic way to end the term.
  • A great job by our newspaper team

    Fri 15 Dec 2017
A group of journalistic pupils have been busy at lunchtimes creating The Greswold Times newspaper. The editorial team have been busy interviewing staff and reporting on the events that take place here at Greswold. All sales of the newspaper have been raising money for the charity Educaid. So far a fantastic £53.25 has been raised and Mr Carnell from the charity came to Greswold to collect the money. The funds will support the education of children in Kenya - a great way of showing kindness to others.
  • Key Stage 1 parties

    Thu 14 Dec 2017
With Christmas on the way, it was time for children in Years 1 and 2 to enjoy a festive party. The children got to dress in their party clothes and make party hats. In the afternoon there was a disco and lots of great dancing. It was then back to the class rooms to eat the food that had been sent in. A most enjoyable day.
  • PTA Christmas Fayre

    Wed 13 Dec 2017
Greswold was busy this Saturday with the PTA's Chrismas Fayre. There was lots to enjoy including lots of games, delicious food, stalls, the raffle and of course Father Christmas in his grotto. A huge thank you to the PTA for organising the event and to all of our families who supported. All of the money raised goes straight back to the children here at Greswold to support their learning.
  • Snow update - Greswold open on Wednesday 13/12/17

    Tue 12 Dec 2017
    Dear Parents and Carers,

Greswold Primary School, including Greswold Greyhounds, will be open on Wednesday 13th December as usual. The site team have endeavoured to clear paths to all entrances to enable safe access for pupils, staff and visitors. The car park remains problematic for staff so I must insist that parents do not use the car park for any reason for the remainder of the week.

The catering team will be able to provide a choice of hot or cold lunch options on Wednesday but the Christmas lunch will be postponed due to delivery issues of necessary food.

The pavements outside school are also problematic so please do take time and care to get to the school safely. We will delay closing the registers until 9.15 but parents should aim, where possible, for children to arrive on time. Our office and staff teams will have many tasks to complete on Wednesday morning so please only come to the school office for queries if absolutely necessary. If your child will be absent from school due to illness please follow the usual procedures and inform the office team by phone by 9:30.

Children should wear Greswold uniform including school shoes while in the buildings on Wednesday but should obviously dress appropriately for the journeys to and from school. It is extremely helpful if all winter clothing, accessories and footwear is labelled.

I thank all parents for their support and patience during these challenging weather conditions. If any conditions change overnight, I will review this decision in light of safeguarding and safety priorities and communicate accordingly but I am expecting that school will be open.

I look forward to seeing all children and staff in school on Wednesday. Above all, stay safe.

    Yours faithfully

    Karen Scott
