  • Year 3 learning in the Nature Area

    Fri 09 Mar 2018
The snow on the ground didn't put Year 3 off their EKO session. Mrs Ogden and Mrs Cooper have been working hard (with some help) to clear up the Nature Area and make it easier to use. Year 3 enjoyed looking for different creatures living in the area and also tried a bit of bush craft.
  • Explore Learning - Young Writers' Competition

    Thu 08 Mar 2018
Staff from Explore Learning visited Greswold to explain this year's Young Writer's competition. In a special assembly, our children from Key Stages 1 and 2 learned that the theme for this year is 'Heroes' and that David Walliams will be judging the competition. The children certainly seemed excited to start writing their own stories next week.
  • World Book Day 2018

    Thu 01 Mar 2018
For this year's World Book Day, our theme was 'Snuggle up with a good book'. As well as dressing up as a book character, pupils also had the option to wear their pyjamas or onsies. During the day there was an opportunity to get comfortable and enjoy a book. Our older pupils from Year 6 shared stories with Year 1 and were excellent role models. There were also book themed activities in classes and in the Library. At the end of the day, children recieved a £1 book voucher. See which books you can buy with them on the World Book Day website.
  • IMPORTANT - Snow Closure - 2/3/18

    Thu 01 Mar 2018

    Dear parents,

The local area is already treacherous and overnight freezing temperatures are expected to make conditions worse. Many parents and staff experienced lengthy and unsafe journeys home. Therefore, after discussion with other local schools, we have made the difficult decision to close Greswold Primary School tomorrow (Friday 2 March 2018). We expect to be open on Monday 5 March. Please check our website and our Twitter account (@greswoldschool) for further updates.

    Yours sincerely

    Mrs K Scott

  • Year 5 visit to Blists Hil

    Wed 28 Feb 2018
Pupils in Year 5 stepped back in time to the Victorian era when they visited Blists Hill Museum near Telford. The children got to dress up in period clothes and experience what life was like in a Victorian school. Lessons were rather different in the 1800s, with slates and chalks being the most modern technology in the classrooms.
  • Sports Hall Athletics Final

    Wed 28 Feb 2018
Our Sports Hall Athletics team took part in the final of the competition at North Solihull Sports Centre. It was a slightly different line up as Year 5 were away on an educational visit. The team gave it their all and did a great job, ending up coming in 5th place. Well done and thanks to all the parents who supported today.
  • Fairtrade Fortnight

    Fri 16 Feb 2018
Mrs Cooper's Eco Club have been busy at lunchtimes making a chocolate bar character out of recycled materials. The character is part of Solihull's Fairtrade Trail around the town centre from 17 February to 4 March. Members of the club visited the mayor of Solihull to reveal their chocolate character. Trail sheets are available from Touchwood Information Desk and The Core library. Why not try the trail over half term and take a selfie with our character!
  • Sports Hall Athletics Team Success

    Fri 16 Feb 2018

Our Key Stage 2 Sports Hall Athletics team took part in a competition against five other local schools. The group of children from Years 5 and 6 had been practising for the competition with Mrs Hornsey and did fantastically well, winning the competition with a clear margin. Well done! They are now through to the final later on in Spring term.

    Tue 13 Feb 2018
Pupils from Year 2 took part in a School Games gymnastics competition at Lode Heath School. Over the past few weeks the children had been learning two sequences demonstrating floor work and using a bench. This was the first time that Greswold has taken part in the competition and the our two teams performed their sequences in front of a packed hall of parents. While we did not come close to winning the competition, we are very proud of all of the children who took part. Well done.
  • Year 3 perform Rocking Romans

    Wed 07 Feb 2018
Year 3 did a fantastic job putting on a performance of The Rocking Romans. They had been working hard to learn all the lines and songs that told the story of the Roman invasion of Britain. Well done, Year 3. We hope parents enjoyed watching the show.
