The exceedingly high standard of competition provided a very tough test for the Greswold team against some of the biggest and most competitive schools in South Solihull. Every single one of the team were magnificent and represented the Greswold School Community superbly. They were cheered on by a large supporting parental crowd much larger than any other school which helped to create a wonderful atmosphere. Thank you to everyone who helped and attended and well done children, we are very proud of you all.
Final Standings: 1st - Knowle (310 points), 2nd - Greswold (282), 3rd - Monkspath (226), 4th - Shirley Heath (202), 4th - Dorridge (202), 6th - St Alphege (184), 7th - Dickens Heath (170), 8th - Sharman's Cross (166)
In today's house point assembly the focus was on success. Mr Hornsey went through some of the successes Greswold's teams have had this half term - such as our Year 6 maths team coming second at the King Edward's final. Of course achieving success is not always easy and the path to get there is difficult. There are often lots of set backs on the way. Our house captains from Years 2 and 6 shared some of their successes and the steps they took to achieve them.
Also in the assembly Mrs Woodcock celebrated the learning everyone has been doing in their Jigsaw lessons on the theme of 'Dreams and Goals'. Each class brought some of the work they have completed which will go into a special garden-themed display. We look forward now to next half-term's theme of 'Healthy Me'.
Our EAL* ambassadors introduced themselves in a whole school assembly. These pupils speak a wide variety of languages and will support any pupils who may need help with their English especially at playtime and lunchtime. They will wear special badges and are keen to help. They will undergo training from Mrs Hanlon and Mrs Polanski.
*English as an Additional Language.
Since the NSPCC led assemblies and workshops Greswold about keeping safe, our pupils have been busy taking part in 'Buddy's Big Workout'. Named after Buddy, the charity's mascot, the workout challenge was completed in PE lessons. Our children tried different fitness activities such as circuit training or indoor athletics. Lots of children were also then sponsored for taking part.
A huge thank you to all our families who were able to support the event. Greswold raised a fantastic £2400 which will all go to supporting the important work of the NSPCC.
