• Buddy's Big Workout...

  Since the NSPCC led assemblies and workshops Greswold about keeping safe, our pupils have been busy taking part in 'Buddy's Big Workout'. Named after Buddy, the charity's mascot, the workout challenge was completed in PE lessons. Our children tried different fitness activities such as circuit training or indoor athletics. Lots of children were also then sponsored for taking part. 

   

  A huge thank you to all our families who were able to support the event. Greswold raised a fantastic £2400 which will all go to supporting the important work of the NSPCC.

  

• PTA Movie Night

  Pupils from Year 1 to 6 enjoyed the film 'The Secret Life of Pets' at this term's movie night. The children enjoyed the adventures of a dog called Max and all the other animals he meets. There was also a snack and drink to add to the cinema experience. Thanks to the PTA for organising the evening.

  

• Year 6 Maths Quiz

  After reaching the final of the Explore Learning Maths Quiz, our Year 6 maths team headed to King Edwards School for the final stage of their competition. It was a hard-fought competition which involved solving different problems and even a maths relay race. In the end the team finished second and were presented with Murderous Maths books.

  

• Basketball Tournament

  Greswold's two basketball teams were in action in a tournament at Lode Heath School. Our A and B teams played against other local schools and by the end of the competition Greswold is now placed near the top of the league. Well done!

  

• NSPCC Assemblies

  Today we welcomed a representative from the NSPCC who led assemblies for Key Stage 1 and 2. The assemblies introduced the children to Buddy, the NSPCC's mascot, and focused on how children can keep themselves safe and speak out. Our oldest children in Years 5 and 6 will be having workshops led by the NSPCC next week which will continue the themes from the assemblies.

  

• Happy New Year

  We hope all our families have enjoyed the holidays. We are now ready to continue this academic year with lots of exciting learning ahead.

• PTA Christmas Fair

  Many thanks to everyone who support this year's PTA Christmas fair. It was lovely to see lots of our families at the event. The event raised over £4000 for the children at Greswold. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the event happen.

  

• Year 5 Visit to the National Space Centre

  Children from Year 5 spent an out-of-this-world day at the National Space Centre in Leicester. The pupils have been learning about outer space as their topic and the visit gave them lots of practical exhibits to explore and learn more. They also watched a spectacular show about astronauts in the planetarium. 

  

• PTA Christmas Decoration Competition

  We have enjoyed seeing all the entries for this year's Christmas decoration competition. The children have done a brilliant job making their creative designs which have been displayed on our two Christmas trees. A special well done to the winners of the competition.

  

• Mr King visits Year 1

  Children from Year 1 were delighted to welcome Mr King back to Greswold. Our former deputy headteacher visited Year 1 to tell them about the history of toys and to share some of his own collection of historical toys. The children enjoyed seeing how different types of toys have evolved of the years - especially teddy bears. Thanks to Mr King for coming in for the morning.
