  • New iPads from the PTA

    Fri 25 Nov 2016
Greswold's fantastic PTA do a brilliant job raising money for our pupils. After a huge amount of fundraising, the PTA have raised enough to provide a trolley of iPads for the children here at Greswold. The class set of iPads have already being put into action with different classes using them to support learning in Maths, English, Science and other subjects. We are looking forward to using them in lots of different lessons. A huge thank you to the PTA!
  • Year 4 Roald Dahl Day

    Thu 24 Nov 2016

Year 4 have had a great day exploring the world of author Roald Dahl. The children came dressed as characters from Roald Dahl's book and looked brilliant - well done parents. During the day they enjoyed reading some books by Roald Dahl and even tried writing as one of his characters. In the afternoon the children tried to be illustrators and drew some fantastic charcoal sketches to illustrate stories including the BFG and George's Marvellous Medicine. Some photographs of the children in their costumes are available here.

  • Values and PSD Workshop

    Mon 21 Nov 2016

There was a good turn out for our rescheduled meeting covering our new PSD scheme of work Jigsaw and the way it links to our school values at Greswold. Mrs Woodcock and Mrs Scott were pleased to discuss the way Jigsaw teaches our pupils about social skills, emotional literacy and health education. They also went through ways parents can help to support this learning at home. Many thanks to the parents who attended and we hope you found it useful.

If you were unable to attend the meeting or would like to view the presentation again, it is available here to read online.

  • Children in Need 2016

    Fri 18 Nov 2016
Greswold looked very different today with children wearing Pudsey t-shirts, Pudsey ears, Pudsey badges and even Pudsey onsies to support BBC's Children in Need appeal. The theme was to come to school dressed in something spotty, with the £1 for the privilege of not wearing uniform going to the charity. A big thank you to everyone who sent in money - we raised a fantastic £500!
  • School Games Silver Award

    Fri 11 Nov 2016
Earlier this term, Greswold achieved the standards required for the School Games Silver award. Today, in assembly, Miss Sumner received the award on behalf of the school from Greswold's adviser David Gill. There are lots of sporting events planned for the academic year ahead and we are sure our pupils will enjoy taking part.
  • ModeShift Stars -Silver Award

    Fri 11 Nov 2016
Greswold has been recognised for our work promoting sustainable travel with a ModeShift Stars silver award. Mr Hornsey and two representatives from Year 6 collected the award at a special ceremony at the Council House in Solihull. With our walking bus scheme, bikeability, scootability and other initiatives we will now build on our achievements in this area.
  • Lest We Forget

    Fri 11 Nov 2016

At Greswold we think it is important to show respect to those who died fighting in service of our country. This week our Year 6 pupils have been selling poppies at playtimes on behalf of the Royal British Legion. Today, on Remembrance Day, our  school community came together to observe a minute's silence in a special assembly. The children also sang 'We Will Remember' - a song about remembering those who died in wars.

On Sunday two pupils from Year 6 will lay a wreath at the war memorial at St Alphege Church in Solihull. This tradition of reflecting on Remembrance Day is important to us at Greswold and is an example of our school value of Respect.

  • Walking Bus Launches

    Mon 07 Nov 2016

Our new walking bus scheme launched today, with eight children walking to school with our walking bus staff. The scheme is designed to cut car journeys to Greswold and promote walking. The bright jackets help the children to be seen when they cross the roads.

We still have places available on the walking bus. Contact the Office for more information.

  • Indoor Athletics Roadshow

    Fri 04 Nov 2016
Pupils from Year 5 and 6 were today involved in an indoor athletics roadshow. The children took part in a number of different disciplines including throwing and jumping. We are looking for a team to take part in a competition with other schools later in the year. Last year our team made it all the way through to the finals so we are looking to repeat this success.
  • A letter from Nick Gibb

    Fri 04 Nov 2016
We were very pleased to receive a letter from Nick Gibb MP, the Minister of State for School Standards, praising our achievements in last year's Year 1 Phonic Screening Check. The minister recognised that Greswold was in the top 8% of schools in the country for our results and this represented a huge effort by our staff and pupils. The children who took the test, currently in Year 2, can be very proud of themselves.
