Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Year 4 have had a great day exploring the world of author Roald Dahl. The children came dressed as characters from Roald Dahl's book and looked brilliant - well done parents. During the day they enjoyed reading some books by Roald Dahl and even tried writing as one of his characters. In the afternoon the children tried to be illustrators and drew some fantastic charcoal sketches to illustrate stories including the BFG and George's Marvellous Medicine. Some photographs of the children in their costumes are available here.
There was a good turn out for our rescheduled meeting covering our new PSD scheme of work Jigsaw and the way it links to our school values at Greswold. Mrs Woodcock and Mrs Scott were pleased to discuss the way Jigsaw teaches our pupils about social skills, emotional literacy and health education. They also went through ways parents can help to support this learning at home. Many thanks to the parents who attended and we hope you found it useful.
If you were unable to attend the meeting or would like to view the presentation again, it is available here to read online.
At Greswold we think it is important to show respect to those who died fighting in service of our country. This week our Year 6 pupils have been selling poppies at playtimes on behalf of the Royal British Legion. Today, on Remembrance Day, our school community came together to observe a minute's silence in a special assembly. The children also sang 'We Will Remember' - a song about remembering those who died in wars.
On Sunday two pupils from Year 6 will lay a wreath at the war memorial at St Alphege Church in Solihull. This tradition of reflecting on Remembrance Day is important to us at Greswold and is an example of our school value of Respect.
Our new walking bus scheme launched today, with eight children walking to school with our walking bus staff. The scheme is designed to cut car journeys to Greswold and promote walking. The bright jackets help the children to be seen when they cross the roads.
We still have places available on the walking bus. Contact the Office for more information.
