Dear Parents and Carers,
We have been informed by Highway Management at Solihull MBC that the new 20mph speed restrictions on Buryfield Road have now been formally implemented. The signage was installed several weeks ago but the restrictions are now being enforced.
For the sake of our Greswold families, especially those who walk to and from school, please drive safely and adhere to the new speed limit.
Thank you

Thank you to our families for their continued support and co-operation during the last few weeks, in highlighting an incredibly important lifelong habit and for helping to demonstrate our school values of Belonging and Respect.
The winner of the 1st prize in this year's PTA Easter raffle collected their brand new television this morning. Vaanika and her family were thrilled to take home their prize and are photographed with Nerissa, Chair of the PTA and Mr Hornsey, President of the PTA. Thank you to Solace Property Consultancy Ltd for donating such an impressive prize and thank you to all our families who generously took part in this year's raffle.
Altogether the PTA raised £750 profit. As ever, the funds will be used to enhance the education and experiences of the children here at Greswold. .
Yesterday evening, the boys' school football team took part in the South Solihull Large Schools' play-off finals, an end of season competition to crown the best school in South Solihull for 2023-24.
Greswold's participation was a result of winning their individual league, topping the table with 4 wins, a draw and only one loss. They were up against two other league winners and the best runner-up from all three leagues.
Their semi-final against St Alphege was a very physical match with a great deal of quality on show. A late comeback by Greswold wasn't enough to overcome their opponents with the final score being 4-2 to an impressive St Alphege team, who eventually went on to be crowned champions in the final.
Greswold's 3rd/4th place play-off was another close affair with their opponents Knowle eventually winning 4-3 in a match that went one way then the other!
Thank you to all of the families who attended and gave their support and well done to the players for their commitment and endeavour this season. It was very evident to see the school's values were impeccably demonstrated by each team member even when things weren't going the way they wanted them to.
Thank you to everyone involved, 4th place from an original list if over 20 schools who entered was a brilliant achievement.

Yesterday, year 6 pupils visited RAF Cosford in Shropshire to help introduce and immerse them in this term's History topic, all about World War II, how people's lives were affected and where this significant event had the biggest impact in our locality.
The opportunity to learn about the Blitz and the Battle of Britain, which countries were involved, and learning about the roles that both men and women played in WW2 was extremely intriguing! The children then had the opportunity to view and learn about some of the aircraft used during that period including the Hurricane and the Spitfire. A few incredibly lucky children even got the opportunity to sit in the cockpit of some of these memorable planes in the museum!
The pupils also took part in a STEM activity to make a rocket, and competed against each other to see who could get them to fly the furthest based on the aerodynamics of their model. Using a launchpad and selecting the air pressure they wanted to fly at, children could launch their rockets!
The children had a very memorable day and they can now use what they have learned back in school within their lessons for the rest of the term. The children themselves were a credit to Greswold and their families, as they perfectly demonstrated our values throughout the day.
Thank you to the year 6 staff who organised such an immersive and memorable visit, a perfect way of promoting the children's enthusiasm and curiosity for not just History but Science as well!
Eid Mubarak to all our Greswold families today. Have a wonderful celebration.
Dear Parents or Carers,
We are pleased to share an improvement in the amount of pupils that were late into school during the mornings of the final week of the spring term. Compared to 103 pupils being late during the previous week, there were 87 lates in total, with a slight reduction in the reasons being allocated to 'Traffic' too. Below are the statistics from the initiative so far, in full:
Weeks |
Total amount of late children (in the mornings only) |
Reasons allocated to 'Traffic' |
Week 1 (4th-8th March) | 104 | 46 |
Week 2 (11th-15th March) | 103 | 46 |
Week 3 (18th-22nd March) | 87 | 40 |
Thank you for working in partnership with school during these last few weeks and we look forward to those results improving even further in the future.
In the coming week, a recorded presentation will become available on the website for parents to view about the 'Punctuality Push' campaign. It will give a more personable insight into the challenges faced by both pupils and staff due to lateness whilst also communicating some of the systems in place to support families in travelling to school punctually. It will also contain some helpful advice and tips, contributed by a number of Greswold parents themselves.
As ever, thank you for working in partnership with Greswold.

Yesterday, the Greswold Sportshall Athletics team took part in the School Games Level 3 Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire County Finals at North Solihull Sports' Centre.
The event was the culmination of a very competitive competition which spanned a qualifying event (against 10 schools) followed by an South Solihull Area Final (8 schools) which Greswold won to earn their place at the regional event. In total, nearly 200 schools will have taken part in the regional competition.
On the day, the competition was immense with area finalists competing from North Solihull, and regions in Coventry and Warwickshire.
