Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Celebrating pupils' out-of-school achievements was one of the highlights for this morning's House Point assembly. Their talents, experiences, curiosity and courage were a wonderful example to all the children.
Mr Hornsey also shared the answers to his Geography / trainer brand quiz whilst giving out some extra house points to Sofia in year 6 who went above and beyond when she answered the quiz at home.
Speed Stacking was also introduced to the children as a new lunchtime option and a great way to refine gross motor skills. The children were shown a video of world records over the past few years and it's not as easy as you think!

The winners of the PTA Christmas Decoration competition were announced with each winner being given a prize.
Y3 Sparrows won an attendance certificate for the most improved attendance this half term while Y6 Cedars remain out in front for the class with the best overall attendance so far in the whole school.
St Andrew's edged ahead in the House Point challenge scoring an impressive 53 points during the half term. However, there's plenty of time for the other houses to catch them up!
We have just learned about the out-of-school success of another of our pupils, Frankie from year 3. He has just performed with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) at Symphony Hall. What an achievment to perform with such a world famous company but to do it on such an amazing stage as the Symphony Hall is something that we're sure he and his family will remember forever.
Well done Frankie, everyone at Greswold is very proud of you.
Thursday 11th December marked National Christmas Jumper Day which all the Greswold staff helped to celebrate. £75 was raised by staff for the Save the Children charity. The jumpers are becoming more and more unique too!
Earlier this term, we were delighted to provide our parental community with some workshops to support the work we do in school. Mr Hobbis (Curriculum Lead) ran a workshop on supporting children's learning at home, whilst Mrs Woodcock (Co-Headteacher/Deputy Headteacher) ran a workshop all about our work on diversity, equity and inclusion at Greswold. We were pleased to be joined by some of our parental community who all commented positively on the work we're doing and how this provides an insight into our daily practice. It has been lovely to hear how positive our parents/carers who attended were and how it will enable them to extend this at home through conversations and learning.
We will shortly be sharing some survey information to find out what further support parents/carers would like to strengthen our parental partnerships.
This morning, 22 members of our school choir entertained the patients, visitors and staff at Solihull Hospital with a lovely collection of festive songs.
They were helping the hospital to raise money for their own Solihull Hospital charity with renditions of songs including the 12 Days of Christmas, Rocking around the Christmas tree and Jingle Bells.
Everyone at the hospital seemed so pleased to see and listen to the children and we received some very positive feedback from staff and visitors about the standard of the choir’s singing.
Thank you to Mrs Jones for organising such a purposeful community event and thank you to the children for singing so wonderfully.
It was a very windy and wet evening at Old Silhillians yesterday evening as the girls' football team were back in action with matches against Valley Primary and Dicken's Heath.
The conditions didn't seem to affect the team in their first game however as they ran out convincing 7-0 winners against Valley Primary.
The second game against Dicken's Heath was much closer but goals either side of the break meant Greswold were eventual 2-1 winners.
With just one game to go in the league this year, Greswold are in contention of topping the table and advancing to the play-off finals so fingers crossed.

Thank you to all of our families who attended Saturday's fabulous PTA Christmas Fayre. It was a really good turn out with families and children enjoying a range of fun activities, treats and refreshments.
As well as Santa's grotto, there was face painting, a performance from our very own choir, a Year 6 D&T activity vote as well as other activities with some hosted by a number of Lode Heath students, (most of which were ex-pupils) who came along to help.
We will give out further details soon about how much money was raised to be used for curriculum enhancements but, as always, a massive thank you needs to go to the hardworking volunteers of our Greswold PTA, who have been planning the fayre for months to ensure everyone had the best time.
On Tuesday, the families of children in Year 3 Robins were thoroughly entertained with an African drumming performance.
Every year 3 child develops their singing and percussion skills through the use of African drums, expertly taught by Mrs Korman from Solihull Music Service.
The children put on a really fabulous performance with all parents really enjoying the concert. Well done Robins.
On Tuesday 2nd December Solihull Council held their annual awards evening for the finalists of the 2025 SEND awards. This year there were over 120 nominations and Greswold had three finalists who attended the ceremony and received their certificate and medal for Special Recognition:
Layannah for Young Carer
Blake for Bravery
Mrs Sullivan for SEND Champion - Primary
We are really proud of their fully-deserved recognition.
