  • Summer Reading Challenge success!

    Fri 19 Sep 2025

Once again, Greswold are very proud to share our pupils' love for reading after so many completed the Solihull Reading Challenge this summer.

The children successfully read at least six books from Solihull libraries, recalling details of each story, to a representative of the library they visited, on each occasion.

They were then awarded a certificate and a special medal.  Well done to all the children involved in the reading challenge this summer and particularly to those children who completed it.  We're very proud of you all.

  • Introducing Greswold's new Junior Travel Ambassadors for 2025-26!

    Fri 19 Sep 2025

This morning, those year 6 pupils who have been chosen for the role of Junior Travel Ambassador, for this academic year, received their badges.

The role is very important in highlighting the importance of active and sustainable travel across the school, helping to alleviate traffic congestiona nd keep families safe.  They are also heavily involved in running the Living Streets Travel Tracker, awarding monthly badges, as well as promoting other activities and opportunitites to the rest of the school during assemblies.

One such activitiy will be the annual 'Be Bright, Be Seen' art competition which prepares the whole school for things to think about when travelling to and from school when the darker monrings and evenings draw in.

Well done to Devaansh, Rohan, Gino and Isaac for being chosen.  We know you'll be amazing.

The Language Leaders are looking forward to looking through all of the poster competition entries and choosing the winners, ready for the first Language of the Month on October 1st!

    Mon 15 Sep 2025

Thank you to all the parents who joined us for Meet the Teacher meetings over the past two weeks.  It was wonderful to welcome everyone and the turn out was really positive.

All year group presentations are now available in year group pages in Community/Year Groups or by clicking on the link below:

    https://www.greswold.solihull.sch.uk/topic/year-groups

The Senior Leadership Team's presentation has been recorded and is also available in the Video Centre in Community or by clicking on the link below.  We advise any parent, who wasn't able to attend their respective Meet the Teacher meeting, to please watch the recording so that you're also aware of expectations shared with our parent community.  Parents of pupils in EYFS did not have an SLT presentation so it would be good for them to view the recording too.

  • New School Council meet for first time!

This morning, Mrs Foster met with the new members of this year's School Council, a very important role which helps to give a pupil perspective to everything we do at Greswold.

  • Picture News prompts connected thinking from KS2!

    Mon 08 Sep 2025

This week's Picture news in assembly prompted a lot of discussion around what makes buildings special.

One of Sweden's biggest wooden structures, a church in Kiruna, is being moved 5km due to the ground becoming unstable.

Mr Hornsey then talked about other famous structures being moved such as Marble Arch and London Bridge.

One particular type of special building which can't be moved but can sometimes be replaced are football stadia (linking in with Saturday's England match) and this was discussed too, nicely coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the closure of the previous Wembley stadium.

So, for all those football fans out there, can you name 5 football or sports' stadia which have been rebuilt elsewhere? Here's one for starters....Everton, which was discussed in assembly, and whose new stadium has actually been built over a dock on the river Mersey.
