Greswold helps to remember
Mon 10 Nov 2025This weekend marked Remembrance Sunday with services held all over the country including at the war memorial in Solihull town centre.
As always, pupil representatives from Greswold, along with Mrs Scott and Mrs Woodcock laid a wreath on the memorial, on behalf of the school, its pupils and families, and joined in with the service.
As a school we will be holding our own service tomorrow on the 11th and 11am.

Board games and playing cards needed for lunchtimes!
Fri 07 Nov 2025Dear Parents and Carers,
Currently, we're in the process of updating our lunchtime equipment/resources with the help of the PTA. However, we are also trying to focus on activities which aren’t necessarily physical such as board games and card games. Buying these sort of items can be expensive when purchased new so we thought it would be a good idea to contact our parent community in case any of these items might be going spare or might looking be looking for a new home.
The sort of board games we’re looking for include Guess Who, Connect Four, Scrabble, Chess, Battleship, Hungry Hippos, Twister, Screwball Scramble, amongst others.
In terms of card games we’re after games such as Dobble, Uno, Top Trumps and traditional playing cards.
If you do have any of these items going spare at home, we can defintely give them a new home and a new purpose!

Road Safety Week, a perfect opportunity to keep our Greswold community safe!
Fri 07 Nov 2025Road Safety Week is the charity, Brake's biggest road safety campaign. Every year, thousands of schools, organisations and communities get involved to share important road safety messages and join our call for safe roads for everyone.
Road Safety Week is 16th - 22nd November and is a perfect opportunity for Greswold to actively support the campaign while promoting our school values to the parent community when travelling to and from school.

Language of the Month for November revealed!
Fri 07 Nov 2025This month's language of the Month is Russian.
Here at Greswold, we have nearly 200 pupils whose first language isn't English with over 30 first languages spoken at school. This is one of the reasons why we celebrate Greswold's wonderful diversity with Language of the Month.
Currently, we have 3 pupils who speak Russian as a first language.

Greswold starts football season with impressive win!
Fri 07 Nov 2025Last night, the girls' football season kicked off at Solihull Moors with a match against Monkspath school as part of the South Solihull Large Schools' girls' league
Under the floodlights, girls from years' 5 and 6 represented the school perfectly with a display which epitomised Greswold's school values.
Even before the match had started, one of Greswold’s players, Jess, who had turned up early, volunteered to play for a different school who hadn’t got enough players, a gesture really appreciated by the parents, in particular, from Our Lady of Compassion school.
Following that, a hard fought contest commenced between Greswold and Monkspath, scrappy at first but full of determination from both teams. Mounting pressure from Greswold resulted in a two goal half time lead, courtesy of Ellie and Hooriyah.
The second half continued in a similar vein with Ellie, adding a brace of goals, giving her an impressive hat-trick and Greswold a deserved 4-0 win.
Hand shakes and three cheers at the end of the match by both teams reflected the really good spirit of the match.
It's now onto Tuesday where the girls have another match against Sharman's Cross at Old Silhillians at 4pm. Why not come along and lend your support.

Children excel in thought provoking PSD workshops this week
Thu 06 Nov 2025This week, Greswold invited representatives from the charity, Show Racism the Red Card, into school to deliver a range of workshops to both pupils and staff.
Founded in 1996, 'Show Racism the Red Card' are the UK's leading anti-racism education charity, which was established to use education to combat racism and prejudice.
Within the workshops, pupils discussed various aspects relating to the topic, including terms such as anti-racist, racial slurs and allyship. The training class teachers received was very thought provoking and insightful.
We thank Show Racism the Red Card for the way they sensitvely approached discussions with the children and for their absolute professionalism

Greswold in the papers!
Thu 06 Nov 2025Greswold appeared in a recent edition of the Solihull Observer in a story which detailed National Highways' involvement in the regeneration of several areas around school.
Outside The Nest, The Burrow and areas outside Sparrows and Wrens were areas regenerated a year ago partly funded by National Highways.

Over £1,200 raised by BookFair sales to fund improved class libraries!
Thu 06 Nov 2025After another highly successful BookFair sale at last term's Parent Consultations, £1236 of commission has been raised to spend on library books for the school.
Thanks to parents' generosity, it's our plan to use this money to replenish class libraries with new books which match the subject topics being taught in class while also purchasing texts by authors from a range of different cultures to further reflect our diverse school community and to enable pupils to better identify themselves and their backgrounds in our curriculum offer.

New Home Learning Policy launched

During last term's Parent Consultations, you may have noticed and viewed posters around school publicising the launch of Greswold's newly approved Home Learning Policy. The policy itself details our updated offer from Nursery up to Year 6 including information about website pages allocated to Home Learning.
The offer itself is not dissimilar to our previous policy but does state how much time tasks should take and how parents can help school to develop 'Life Skills' at home. There is information on places to visit which complement our curriculum offer and gives access to Picture News if children desire additional homework activities.
