  • RAFT release Greswold workshop summary

    Fri 14 Nov 2025

Recently, pupils from Greswold, including Eco Council and Y6 House Captains, took part in a special Solar Panel workshop facilitated by RAFT which stands for Retrofit Action For Tomorrow.

Below is a really informative summary of the workshop provided by RAFT which captures the children's curiosity and understanding of matters relating to sustainability.

This is another example of how Greswold uses curriculum enhancements to provide a real-life context for children to apply their understanding thus helping to store learning to long term memory.

  • The Athletics Roadshow comes to Greswold!

    Wed 12 Nov 2025

Representatives, Zoe and Eddie from Specialising in Sport, visited school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week to help kick off the athletics season in school.

All pupils in years' 5 and 6 took part in a special Athletics Roadshow allowing them the opportunity to develop their Sportshall Athletics field event skills. These events included Standing Long Jump, Standing Triple Jump, Soft Javelin, Vertical Jump, Chest Push and Speed Bounce.

The results from these events will help children to work on their Personal Best later in the year while also providing potential athletes for the Greswold Sportshall Athletics team, with the annual competition starting in January, and the Year 6 Borough Sports' competition taking place in June.

Well done to all the children for their effort and commitment during the roadshow.

  • Greswold remembers and reflects on Remembrance Day

    Wed 12 Nov 2025

Yesterday, Greswold held two Remembrance services at 11am.  In the lower school hall, Mr Hornsey was joined by pupils and staff from KS1 while in the upper school hall, Mrs Woodcock held a service with pupils, staff and visitors from KS2.

The two minute's silence was immpeccably observed by the pupils, demonstrating the school value of Respect perfectly.

Well done to everyone involved on such an important occasion.

  • Lightning strikes twice for Greswold as girls' football team continue winning start

    Wed 12 Nov 2025

The girls' football team returned to action last night with their second league match in less than a week!

However, you'd be forgiven for thinking lightning had struck twice as the girls played magnificently to clinch another 4-0 win.

In blustery conditions, the team dominated proceedings against Sharman's Cross school scoring a brace in each half with goals from Jess (2), Ellie and Hooriyah.

It's now onto next week's third game of the season against Knowle on Thursday 20th November at Solihull Moors starting at 5pm.  Why noy come along and lend your support.

  • Elms win Little Strider for the second consecutive month!

    Tue 11 Nov 2025

Well done to Year 5 Elms who again won our Living Streets' mascot, Little Strider, for October with an engagement percentage of 65%.

Overall, there were slightly more WOW badges won in October with 130 being awarded and a small increase in the whole score engagement percentage which now stands at 23%.

Below, you can see the top ten schools in England for engaging with the Travel Tracker.  Mr Hornsey recently contacted Living Streets for data relating to the best schools in England.  Apparently, the best schools in England have an engagement percentage of around 70% with 85% of journeys deemed active.  Greswold's active percentage is currently 96% which means if our engagement percentage was to increase, we could make the top ten very soon!

    We can do it!

  • Home Learning at its best!

    Mon 10 Nov 2025

Well done to James in year 3 who, like many pupils, have really embraced the updated Home Learning policy.

Not only did he put a great deal of effort into creating super sentences containing his spellings of the week but you can easily see just how committed he is to produce his best handwriting too, fully endorsing our improved approach to teaching handwriting across the school.   Well done James.

  • Just another 'manic' Monday! Just how we like it at Greswold

    Mon 10 Nov 2025

To some, Monday's might be a bit of a drag but here at Greswold, we relish them as today typically demonstrated.

The rainy, wet day started off with parents attending Reception assembly to help celebrate birthdays while at the same time Mrs Marshall's coffee morning was taking place with even more parents attending.  Not content with that, Miss Jones started her year 1 Phonics' workshops in the upper school hall with even more parents attending.

What a perfect way to start the week and to showcase the positive partnership maintained between school and its families!

The fun carried on in the afternoon with year's 5 and 6 starting their Sportshall Athletics Roadshows with Zoe and Eddie Parsons from Specialising in Sport while in year 2, older pupils from the Triple Crown centre visited school to listen to children reading, something which takes place very Monday and is a vital part of our reading offer.

With Remembrance tomorrow, girls' football tomorrow after school, Open Morning on Wednesday, Kindness Week all week and Children in Need being celebrated on Friday, this will definitely be a week to remember and just how we like it here at Greswold.

  • Greswold tests its Y4 Maths talent at annual KES competition!

    Mon 10 Nov 2025

Held at the prestigious King Edward's School campus in Edgbaston,  Greswold once again entered their annual Year 4 Maths competition on Friday, bringing together schools from across the region.

In Friday's heat, Greswold and nine other schools battled it out in two rounds, a crossword style Maths quiz and a relay structured, quickfire reasoning activity.

Greswold excelled in the relay event but couldn't quite finish in the top three positions meaning they didn't progress to the overall final.

Well done to the four pupils who represented year 4, Greswold's Maths talent and the school community in general.  We are very proud of you.
