Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
As highlighted in assembly this morning, Greswold would like to wish all who are celebrating the Mid Autumn festival or Mooncake Festival, a happy celebration with families and friends. Particularly celebrated in Hong Kong, it is a harvest festival and is a time for family reunion. Click here for a video with more information. There is a large festival taking place in Touchwood Shopping Centre on the 14th September. Families are welcome to enjoy a free event involving music, food and arts and crafts. Mrs Scott is hoping to try some mooncake and cha.
Greswold has always enjoyed a very longstanding tradition of actively participating in a range of inter-school sporting competitions each year.
In 2023-24, we were crowned County Champions in Sportshall Athletics, came runners-up to Solihull School in the Borough Sports' event (Our best result so far) and reached the play-off finals in the boys' football league competition.
2/3 of our year 6 pupils represented the school in at least one inter-school sports' event and our aim is to increase that figure this year.
Below is a calendar of events Greswold will be participating in during this academic year and we are actively looking to increase our participation in other events, including Netball. If anyone in our parent community is aware of any local Netball coaches who might be able to assist Greswold with specialist training, please feel free to contact Mr Hornsey, Mr Isles or Mrs Reilly.
Our Living Streets' Travel Tracker is already up and running again for this academic year. All children have been allocated a symbol for 2024-25. The Travel Tracker is something we, as a school, uses to promote active ways of travelling to and from school with children able to earn rewards by simply travelling once a week in an active manner to school.
However, it's worth noting that this year's password has changed to:
email-scoff-party
So far, only 7% of our pupil population have started using the Travel Tracker but we're sure that will change when newer parents become aware of it. Our aim is for a third of our school to be using the Travel Tracker, thus travelling actively to school on a daily and weekly basis, by the end of the academic year.
Well done to Y5 Oaks and Y6 Maples who have already logged their travel over 50 times each!
All the information you need to start using the Travel Tracker is located on the Sustainable Travel page in the Parents section of the website or by clicking on the link below:

Greswold today received a very thoughtful thank you card from the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Shahin Ashraf MBE. We were very fortunate to host Councillor Ashraf at our year 6 leavers' assembly back in July where she gave a short speech afterwards, and it seems she very much enjoyed the pupils' performance.
It's been a really positive start to the new academic year here at Greswold. The children look very smart and the atmosphere around school has been lovely.
For parents of Reception children, the start of their school journey can be a very anxious one to begin with, for both pupils and parents, and is the reason why a special coffee morning was arranged this morning for parents to attend after drop-off.
This enabled parents to meet with other parents of Reception children as well as Greswold senior leaders. The feedback from parents was very positive and Greswold will be looking into arranging further coffee mornings, for other year groups too, in the future.
Today marked the start of the new academic year and the whole staff team including lunchtime supervisors undertook a range of training activities in readiness to welcoming the children back on Wednesday.
Safeguarding along with Anaphylaxis training were the main subjects of the day as well as welcoming new members of staff. Tuesday involved training on EDI (Equity, Diversity & Inclusion) covering Breaking down bias in Capitalising on Culture.
A warm welcome to Miss Ballard (Y4), Miss Smart (Y3), Miss Pearson (PPA cover), Mrs Murphy (SENDCo) and Miss Javaid (Y1) who joined the staff team today.
