Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
School was a buzz of excitement this weekend as it hosted this year's PTA Christmas Fayre and it has to be said, the whole event was a remarkable success.
Thank you to everyone involved in making it such as family orientated and enjoyable event. It was lovely to hear so many positive comments as families made their way out at the end of the day.
However, something of this size can't take place without the selflessly dedicated Greswold PTA, supported by volunteers and members of Greswold staff.
A massive thank you also needs to go to all Greswold families who helped contribute to the fantastic gift hampers which were won by many raffle ticket winners.
A few new innovations such as the Santa Disco as well as the new token system seemed to be successful and the PTA will look forward to adopting such a system again for the summer fayre too.
Than you to everyone involved and who attended, a perfect prelude to the festive season!
Greswold's year 6 pupils were again visited by representatives from the Metro Bank in Solihull centre today. It was the third session in a series of visits as part of school's commitment to developing life-long learners who are ready for the next journey of their academic and personal lives.
Sessions so far have included banking, saving and budgeting. Thank you to Metro Bank who have given their time to work with our pupils in what is another example of how Greswold works in partnership with the local community for the betterment of our pupils.
All different types of wonderful Christmas jumpers were on show today as Greswold staff raised money for Save the Children. Each member of staff donated some money for the privilege of wearing their jumper and, in total, over £70 was raised for the worthwhile charity.
Thank you to everyone who got involved. It really put a smile on everyone's faces, in particular the children.
Mischievous things are taking place in school at the moment, especially in Mr Hornsey's office. It seems he's being visited each day by a cheeky elf who's up to all sorts of playful things. These have included decorating his office with snowflakes and a Christmas Tree while also making snow angels on his desk!
This morning, the cheeky elf even offered to shine his shoes. However this wasn't what Mr Hornsey had in mind.

As parents may already be aware, Greswold runs a very special initiative in school called Language of the Month. As we are such a diverse and inclusive community, Language of the Month helps to celebrate just how unique our school population is. So far this year, we have celebrated French, Urdu and Bengali. However, for this month, British Sign language is going to be our focus.
The whole school was treated to a fabulous video which Mrs Beddow and Mrs Aitken recorded in collaboration with six pupils, some of who live with hearing impairments. This lovely recording helped to introduce such an important language and form of communication so why not practise some spellings and phrases at home with your children.
24% of the school's pupil population engaged in the Living Streets' Travel Tracker for November with over 140 badges being given out this week by our Y6 Junior Travel Ambassadors.
Cedars (Y6) and Chaffinches (Y4) led the way with the most badges in November but don't forget, pupils are still allowed to go back and fill in days previously missed so they can still earn their badges. Out of the 3102 journeys logged for November, 96% were deemed active.
Greswold's aim is for 30% of all children to regularly use the Travel Tracker to log their journeys so if any parent is unsure about how to do it then please click on the link below which takes you to the Sustainable Travel page containing all the instructions you need.

As part of Greswold's advent writing event last week, each class generated a piece of work, along with an eye catching door, to be displayed on our supersized advent calendar situated in the junior hall.
It was with great pleasure on Friday to commence the opening of the advent calendar and what a treat it was!
Why not take some time at the Christmas Fayre on Saturday to have a look at the fabulous work on show.
Recently we were delighted to welcome families of our youngest children into school to find out more about how we teach phonics and maths. They were able to join in lessons alongside their children and were also able to discover how they learn through play in Nursery and Reception. Here is some of the feedback we received:
Greswold's Senior Leadership Team were treated to a wonderful round of lesson visits this week. Every single class and class teacher were given the opportunity to be visited by one or two members of SLT to showcase their teaching and learning on a given afternoon.
Lessons on show included Geography, Music, RE, Art, D&T, relaxation, PSD, Science and Computing as well as visits to Reception and Nursery to view child initiated learning.
These visits, undertaken 2 or 3 time a year, really demonstrated the talent, dedication and expertise that the teachers here at Greswold possess, which in turn motivated and inspired the children to produce some fabulous learning.
Greswold staff really are world class and we're so lucky to have them!
As part of a partnership with the Triple Crown Centre next to Lode Heath School, Greswold hosted a number of students who were undertaking outreach work within their local area.
This involved visiting us on Thursday to take part in 1:1 reading sessions with Y3 pupils. The whole of the Wrens' pupils took part in these sessions and staff were very appreciative of the time, care and help the students offered in developing the children's love of reading further.
Next week, children in Robins will get their chance!
