• Another example of our local community offering their support

  Recently, a local company called 'Naturally yours by T' donated a number of lovely gifts to school which recognised the efforts of a growing number of 'Young Carer' pupils we currently have. Such a lovely thought by an organisation who recognises the nurturing approach adopted by school and, in particular, our Nest provision who co-ordinated the donation and community link.  The company will also be supporting our Summer Fayre on Saturday 9th July.

  

• And even more sporting success...this time in Tag Rugby!

  On Wednesday Year 6 pupils competed in the School Games South Solihull Tag Rugby festival, organised into a Compete team (Team A) and a Develop team (Team B).

   

  Both teams showed resilience, teamwork and determination and won a number of matches. They had the upmost respect for the opposition- shaking their hands and cheering them on whatever the outcome was. Even in the blazing heat, they stayed positive and we're pleased and proud to say that Team A brought home the silver plate trophy meaning they won all matches in the second half!

   

  Both Mrs Clarke Mrs Edmonds were so incredibly proud of them and they represented Greswold fantastically. 

   

  

• A first of many more! Celebrating the diversity of our school and bringing communities together

  Tuesday afternoon marked Greswold's first school based workshop for over two years.  It was a wonderful chance to invite parents into school whilst also welcoming families who aren't just new to school but also new to Solihull and the UK.  At Greswold, we're so proud to have so many multi-lingual pupils (Over 30 different languages are spoken by pupils at school) and Mrs Beddow, subject leader of English as a Additional Language, organised a very successful workshop on the theme of 'An introduction to the UK and English school system'. 

   

  We aim for this type of workshop to be the start of many, in bringing different communities together, in order to develop and grow as a whole school and local community going forward.

• More sporting success....this time in Rounders!

  On Tuesday, Greswold's year 6 Rounders team competed in the annual South Solihull School Games' competition and performed incredibly well.  They ended up winning 3 matches and drawing 1 meaning they cam top in their group stage.  However, the team were eventually beaten by Solihull School in the semi-finals.  A marvellous achievement by everyone concerned and another example of Greswold excelling on the sporting stage across South Solihull.

  

• A final farewell from our wonderful year 6 girls' footballers!

  On Wednesday, a group of 18 Year 6 girls represented our school in a girls' football cup competition called known as the Football Plate competition.  All matches were short and over very quickly in 8 minutes.

   

  One of our two teams was made up of girls who had never played in a competitive match before, and Mr Wilson warned them that as all the other teams were made up of experienced players, the Greswold team would have to prepare themselves that they may find it very challenging.  However, as the tournament progressed, the girls learned very quickly, getting better and better.  In one match we were just about to celebrate a well earned draw when the ball dribbled over our goal line and the whistle then went.  However, Mr Wilson and Miss Bragg were extremely proud of the way the girls improved match on match and showed excellent teamwork and developing skills.

   

  The other Greswold team was made up of more experienced players.  They did lose a well-contested match 1-0, but drew two other matches 0-0, but then as they grew in confidence, they were delighted to win their final match 3-0.  This is a pretty amazing achievement in 8 minutes.

   

  Mr Wilson has been so proud to see the progress that all the girls have made this year, as well as their positive and enthusiastic attitude every Tuesday during training, and he really hopes that each one of them continues with their football in Year 7.  Good luck girls and we hope to see some of you again as the football stars of the future.

• A memorable occasion to cap a wonderful Jubilee Week here at Greswold!

  School would like to thank all the families who attended our very successful Jubilee Picnic, a perfect end to a wonderful week celebrating the Platinum Jubilee.  School had already unveiled it's impressive Jubilee gallery to the whole school community whilst the pupils took part in numerous themed lessons and activities throughout the week, including a specially designed Jubilee lunch menu. 

   

  Bathed in glorious sunshine, Friday afternoon's picnic which involved live music and a special visit from HM Queen's representative Deputy Lieutenant Mr Burbidge, was the perfect way to finish the celebrations and welcome parents and families properly back into school which, for some, will have been for the first time in over two years!  Thank you to all involved for making it such a fantastic occasion. 

  

• Greswold OAA Success

  Last week, a small group of Year 4 children took part in the first ever Outdoor Adventurous Activities (OAA) festival at Old Silhillians. The children had to take part in a variety of team work and communication tasks such as orienteering, directing other children and making silly faces out of P.E equipment. They all showed our Greswold values and the School Games values exceptionally well, resulting in a fabulous second place! Well done to all who took part!

  

• Lots to celebrate in our House Point assemblies today!

  This morning's House Point assemblies helped to celebrate the half term's value of independence and helped to emphasise how an individual's hard work, determination and ability to make the right choices can have a positive impact on not only themselves but other people around them and the school as a whole, perfectly exemplified by the whole school platinum jubilee celebrations and events. 

   

  Year 5 and 6 pupils who entered the King Henry VIII school art competition also received their well deserved certificates with two pupils, Tanushree and Shreya, given special prizes for their fabulous efforts.  All their entries have been displayed around school for everyone to enjoy and admire.

   

  Certificates were also given to Maples (Y6), Sparrows (Y3) and Rabbits (Y2) for their attendance achievements this term too.    

   

  Finally, the Greswold House competition leader board is getting very exciting as St Patrick's accumulated the most points this half term meaning they're now only one point behind leaders, St George's.

  

• The Jubilee Art Gallery is Open.

  Monday saw the grand opening of our Jubilee Art Gallery. Many of our families visited and appreciated the art work on display. It was worth the wait for entrance as our children are so talented! Thank you to Miss Mears (History Lead) for organising our Jubilee Celebrations and leading in the creation of the art gallery.
