  • More medals for Esme!

    Fri 23 May 2025

Recently, we celebrated the wonderful achievement of Esme in year 4 on Latest News and her success at a national gymnastics competition held in Jersey.

This week, she brought into school her array of medals and trophies from her recent gymnastics adventures.  The assortment of awards covered a range of different gymnastics disciplines and perfectly demonstrates Esme's all round gymnastic ability and the confidence she gains from her hobbies.

It's wonderful to be able to share the out-of-school achievements of our pupils and we look forward to the next instalment of Esme's gymnastics career!

Only 5 points separated 1st and 2nd at yesterday's KS2 Sports' Day.  It was St Andrew's who snatched victory from St George's with a total of 344 points. Rey and Anabelle, house captains of St Andrew's proudly lifted the trophy for pupils, staff and parents to celebrate.

Well done to all the pupils who took part, fabulously demonstrating our Greswold values throughout the day and thank you to the hundreds of parents who came to lend their support too.  Another wonderful event, expertly organised by Mr Isles (PE Subject Lead) who deserves a great deal of credit.

  • Y3/4 girls' excel at Langley Secondary Football Festival

    Thu 22 May 2025

Yesterday after school, Greswold entered two teams into this year's Y3 and Y4 Girls' Football Festival, the first time we have done this in a very long time.

Along with Tidbury Green and St Augustine's, the teams played 5 games each in a special festival which celebrated players demonstrating School Games' values.  Well done to the all the girls who represented the school, with Ellisen and Amelia being awarded a special values medal by the Football Activators, otherwise known as Year 10 Langley Secondary students.

In total, Greswold A team won 3 matches and Greswold B team won 1 match and drew 1 match too.

With so many year 3 and year 4 girls interested in playing football for this event, it bodes very well in future years when they get a chance to represent the Y5/6 school football team.

  • Year 6 receive a visit from the Police!!!

    Tue 20 May 2025

On Monday afternoon, Year 6 had a visit from PC Andy, who talked to them about transition to secondary school and what to expect. The children had the opportunity to ask lots of questions and express any anxieties they may have.

They then had the fun opportunity of trying on some police uniform - proving, they're not too old to dress up quite yet!

  • Children, families and staff all enjoy Nursery Sports' Days!

    Tue 20 May 2025

Last Thursday afternoon and this morning saw this year's Nursery Sports' Days take place with plenty of families coming to watch and enjoy the fun too.

There were running races, hurdling races, balancing races and the tried and tested Cozy Coupe race which is always a favourite.

The children did fabulously and earned their well deserved homemade medals at the end, along with a refreshing lolly to enjoy with their families.

Thank you to the parents who came to support one of our favourite annual events here at Greswold.

  • Walk for Wellbeing - the theme of this year's Walk to School Week

    Tue 20 May 2025

This morning, several classes across the school took part in a special virtual assembly by Living Streets, the same organisation that produce the Travel Tracker.

This year's theme for Walk to School Week is Walk for Wellbeing and the children used their class assembly times to view a special virtual assembly promoting the benefits of travelling actively to and from school.

Greswold's aim for this week is to increase the amount of children and families engaging with the Travel Tracker, which for May is currently only 19%.  Our aim is to increase this number to at least 25% which would mean 1/4 of the whole school are attempting to travel actively to school.  This in turn will help reduce traffic congestion and make the roads and pavements around school and the local area safer for everyone.

  • Another memorable PTA Disco thanks to DJ Chater!

    Mon 19 May 2025

On Monday evening, over 250 pupils from years' 1-6 showcased their dancing prowess at this year's PTA Disco.

Y1-3 pupils followed by Y4-6 enjoyed a range of dancing hits from our very own resident DJ, Mr Chater, who once again entertained the masses, including the staff as well.

The children seemed to have a wonderful time.  Thank you to the PTA for providing refreshments and treats, thank you to the school staff who stayed behind to help out, supervise and dance, and a massive thank you to Mr Chater!

  • A whole school workout all in the name of charity!

    Mon 19 May 2025

On Monday, the whole school came together on the KS2 field in the name of raising money for Educaid Africa, a charity that supports children in accessing education.

School Council led all of the pupils in an action packed, fun-filled dance routine.  Staff (sporting sweatbands) and children alike stretched, danced and free-styled their way through the half hour work out with smiles and laughs a-plenty.

Could all sponsor money raised please be passed onto the school office? We will share the total raised in due course and then will present the charity with a cheque in early June.
