Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Today, Year 6 took part in an immersive Stone Age Day, learning all about the prehistoric era in readiness for their new History topic.
The efforts the children (and staff) went to for the day was amazing to see; it was clear everyone had gone to great lengths to look like people from the Stone Age (we wondered where our amazing Year 6 pupils had gone!).
The teachers took lots of photos throughout the day, which are now available on our website:

Thank you to our PTA for funding such a great opportunity for our Year 6 pupils.
As part of our commitment to showcasing the wonderful diversity of our school, Language of the Month is used to promote a different first language that is currently spoken by some children. This month is Kurdish.
At the end of last term and as part of their Design and Technology learning about structures, year 3 children took part in a den building activity with Mr and Mrs Cooper. This immersive activity helped the children to apply their classroom knowledge to real life, outdoor situations.
Not only was their task to build a sturdy den using materials available but they had to make it waterproof too! Staff had great fun testing how waterproof the children's dens were by pouring water on them while each group were inside! Luckily, the children were very successful and no one got wet!
Although the course starts tomorrow, we're sure places will still be available even if the first session has been missed.
Happy New Year to our entire Greswold school community.
Mrs Scott started the new year with an assembly celebrating the start of 2025 and the importance of having goals and dreams, resolutions and always aiming high.
HAPPY- showing high standards of behaviour, asking others if they are having a good day and the re-introduction of HeadTEAcher events.
NEW- understanding the new catering system and new lunchtime outdoor arrangements for winter for Y3-6 and our new value for this half term which is SUCCESS.
YEAR- introducing our School Improvement Plan for this year to build belonging, initiate independence and secure success. The three priorities aim to ensure staff teach in the best way possible, children engage/take ownership of their learning and love reading!
Well done to Rayan in Year 1 Squirrels who was chosen as Top Tiger Star Student in December at Tae kwon Do. It is always lovely to celebrate scuccesses in and out of school.
Greswold was joined by a special guest in assembly today. Mrs Morris, SEND operations manager from Solihull Council, came to present awards to our pupils who were nominated for kindness, bravery, achievement or being a young carer. Nearly 100 pupils were nominated for 'Celebrating SEND Awards' from across the borough of Solihull.
Greswold was proud to nominate:
Harrison D for a Kindness Award for how kind, patient and understanding he is with his peers.
Toby H for an Achievement Award for becoming more independent and working really hard.
Blake B for an Achievement Award for coping with his medical needs, transport to school and all the different adults and appointments in his life as well as coping with school.
Harrison, Toby and Blake were awarded medals by Mrs Morris in assembly today.
In addition, Greswold nominated Miah for Young Carer of the Year and Megan for a Bravery Award.
Megan was presented with a Special Recognition Award for showing exceptional personal development at Forest School and at swimming while overcoming her fears. Staff noticed how she has changed from being quiet and nervous to being enthusiastic and independent. She has shown great courage, resilience and determination, but will seek out help when needed.
Miah was chosen as the winner of the Young Carer of The Year award and attended a special celebration event on 3rd December. She was chosen as she supports and cares for her mum while coping with her own diagnosis. Miah always considers others: she always listens to and has empathy with the other young carers and says comments like "I would like to tell other children like me that it's OK, it's not your fault."
Mrs Morris awarded Miah and Megan with certificates and other goodies. Well done to Harrison, Toby, Blake, Megan and Miah. We are so proud of you.
Christmas Lunch was served by our kitchen team from Solihull Catering on Wednesday. It was enjoyed by many including Mr Hornsey!
Everyone at Greswold has been getting into the Christmas spirit this week with staff and children enjoying wonderful parties throughout the week. £81 was raised by staff as apart of their Christmas jumper fundraising day and the festive attire hasn't stopped there.
This morning, Miss Eaton greeted all KS1 and Reception children with her very own polar bear and penguin!
Well done to the children and staff for making this final week of school such an memorable and enjoyable time for everyone.
This week, Miss Summers announced the winners of her highly successful art competition.
The children really excelled this year and there were so many entries, making the judging incredibly difficult. Well done to all the children who entered. Their creativity and skill were very much on show.
The winners of the competition have had their entries displayed around school as you can see below. However, considering how many entries there were in total, Miss Summers has decided to display them all in a special art exhibition early next term.
This will take place on Monday 13th January in the Upper School Hall between 3pm and 4pm. All are welcome to see just how talented our pupils from Greswold are.
