• PTA Easter creations adorn long corridor!

  A fabulous new display appeared in our long corridor this week courtesy of our wonderful PTA.  Each child's entry to the annual PTA Easter competition was displayed for everyone to enjoy.  The year group and class winners were awarded their prize of an Easter Egg in assembly today too.  

   

  Well done to everyone who entered the competition.  Once again, Greswold pupils' talents really show off Greswold's positive attitude towards Art and Design. 

  

• Year 5 educate and entertain with their marvellous Victorian performance!

  Well done to year 5 pupils for putting on such an educationally entertaining show this week.  Their performance based on their history topic of the Victorian era had a bit of everything.  There was singing, dancing, acting and so many relevant facts shared that visiting parents are now experts themselves! 

   

  Thank you to year 5 staff for organising such an enthralling show in a just a matter of weeks.  

  

• St Patrick's catching up while St Andrew's stretch their lead!

  The value of Respect was the primary theme for this morning's House Point assemblies.

   

  Mr Hornsey spoke about how proud he was to see and hear about Grewold children's respectful behaviour during recent out-of-school visits.  Not only were the year 1 pupils complimented by an accompanying granparent who sent in a lovely email about how delightful they were on a recent visit to Warwick Castle, but year 5 and 6 pupils who took part in yesterday's Sportshall Athletics County Finals were a real credit to the school and families, especailly compared to some children from other schools.

   

  Mr Hornsey emphasised the need to demonstrate respect at all times, especially at breaktimes and lunchtimes which will be a focus of the whole school next half term.

   

  In terms of the House Point leaderboard, well done to St Patrick's who are catching up with the other houses while St Andrew's stretched their lead at the top.  There's still plenty of time for things to change though! 

  

• Greswold finish runners up in thrilling County Final

  With very little practice and a depleted squad, Greswold still managed to finish 2nd in yesterday's School Games Sportshall Athletics County Finals at North Solihull Sports' Centre.

   

  The County Finals brings together the best 8 schools from each region in Solihull, Coventry and Warwickshire.

   

  Obviously, the standard was very high but by winning 5 out of the 12 track events, Greswold managed to finish second which was an amazing acheivement.

   

  Their attitude, commitment and values were always on show throughout and each member of the team should take full credit for the hardwork they've put in over the past two months.  Year 6 as a whole should also take extra credit too as they pushed each member of the team to improve as they all did during their PE sessions in spring which acted as a practice sessions for the competition itself.  Well done to everyone for an outstanding Sportshall Athletics season.

• Piano performance from Rayan

  Mrs Scott, Mr Hornsey and Mrs Glover were treated to a piano performance by Rayan in Y2 who played 'The Wind' with skill and confidence. Keep it up, Rayan.

  

• An Easter assembly and treat from the Christian Renewal Centre

  This morning, Dean and Beth from the Christian Renewal Centre came into school to take a special assembly for years' 1-6. 

   

  Not only did they revisit the Easter Story using a handful of children to help but they talked about how modern day Easter items such as eggs and Hot Cross buns have symbolic value.

   

  They both also brought with them a most generous donation from the Christian Renenwal centre - a chocolate egg for every pupil in the school.  

   

  Thank you to Beth and Dean and everyone at the Chrtistina Renenwal centre for helping school to remember the importance and symbolism of Easter, as part of our Religious Education curriculum.

  

• Greswold raises over £200 for Comic Relief!

  Pupils were adorned with splashes of red on Friday in aid of Comic Relief.  Red socks, red noses, red hair bands and red wrist bands were all on show as Greswold raised a total of £203.84 for the charity.  Thank you to families for your generosity. 

• Y5 visit St Alphege Church

  Our Year 5 pupils enjoyed a thoughtful and engaging visit to St Alphege Church this week as part of their learning about the Easter story. Welcomed by the church team, the children explored the key events of Holy Week, from Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem to the significance of the Resurrection.

   

  Through guided storytelling, interactive activities, and time to reflect inside the beautiful church building, pupils deepened their understanding of why Easter is such an important celebration for Christians. They asked thoughtful questions and considered how themes of hope, sacrifice, and new beginnings continue to resonate today.

   

  It was a meaningful visit that brought their RE learning to life, and we are grateful to St Alphege Church for hosting us so warmly.

• World Down Syndrome Day! Saturday 21st March 2026

  Each year, the Down Syndrome International network works together to speak up and take action for the human rights of all people with Down syndrome.

   

  Their events include the World Down Syndrome Day Conference at the United Nations in New York and activities at the United Nations in Geneva. 
  
  These events give self-advocates the chance to share their expert experience with key decision makers on a global stage.
  
  We encourage you to connect with the Down Syndrome community in our part of the world and learn how you can support local action.

• Year 5 Sustainability learning enhanced by visitors from Solihull Council

  This week, children from year 5 have enjoyed being visited by Solihull's Sustainable Travel team.  Each class received a presentation and workshop on air pollution entitled 'New Roads'.  

   

  The workshop and some of the startling statistics shown helped the children to understand the need for us all to be aware of what causes air pollution and what each of us can do to reduce it.
