Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
School would like to pass on its enormous thanks to Mr Chater and Mr Hindley for all of their hard work and determination in ensuring the installation of the new windows in all KS1 classrooms was finished on time and ready for the new academic year to start.
A great deal of time and effort over the last few months has gone into the planning, quoting and construction processes and now we have an end product which is not only smart and pleasing to the eye but also energy efficient.
It perfectly contributes to Greswold's ongoing vision and desire to develop and maintain a learning environment which allows everyone to achieve their potential and a place we can be very proud of and grateful for.
Take a look at these photos from some of our classes engaged in their learning first thing on Thursday morning. Most children (and staff) were so focused that they didn't even see Mrs Scott popping in. It was a pleasing to see all our BRICKS values being demonstrated across the school.
Despite the heat, it has been a fabulous start to a new school year at Greswold. Mrs Scott was very proud this morning when awarding the first Star Pupils of the Year for reasons including showing our BRICKS values and demonstrating Belonging. She also awarded extra classpoints to the following year groups:
Year 1 for making smart choices about their behaviour at lunchtime by being good role models in the hall and playing on their new playground.
The Den for taking pride in their learniing by being the first to share their new learning with me
Year 2 for looking smart, especially when moving around school.
Year 3 for knowing who to go to for help and being excited to be part of the juniors.
Year 4 for being in the right place at the right time and keeping their cloakrooms so tidy
Year 5 for making smart choices about their behaviour when moving around school
Year 6 for looking after themselves and others by saying good morning, checking in on others and showing excitement and pride in being selected as playleaders.
Children from Reception, year 1 and year 2 who access our intervention space known as The Den all enjoyed a fabulous end of year themed party yesterday. The theme was 'Under the sea' and, as you can see, the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves, a perfect treat from the staff to say thank you for the children's hard work all year.

Following on from a previous Latest News story back in autumn, check out some updated photos below of Design and Technology learning across the school.
The learning gained from these experiences has been so valuable and has helped children to adopt roles such as architects, designers, engineers and chefs.
Throughout their time at Greswold, children will experience food technology, learning around structures, mechanisms and electrical systems along with textiles and controlling products using computing.
Congratulations to all the pupils from St Patrick's who were today crowned champions of the 2022-23 Greswold House Point competition. St George's took second place overtaking St David's in the final term by just a single point and St Andrew's were 4th despite winning the year 6 House sports' competition earlier this month.
The House Point assembly was also an opportunity to congratulate swimming passers, 100% attendance pupils, the best attended class of 22-23 and the class with the highest engagement in the Travel Tracker. We also celebrated the success of five pupils who all achieved unique success in various out of school activities.
Thank you to the children for all their wonderful efforts.
As well as celebrating the classes with the best attendance for the year, we are also celebrating individual pupils who achieved the school target of 97% attendance and above. We are delighted to say that 265 pupils have been awarded their special certificates and that 20 of those children managed 100% attendance!
We also received a letter from the Secretary of State for Education highlighting the importance of attendance (see below). At Greswold, we want to work with families to improve our attendance as we know that good attendance leads to improved outcomes for children. We look forward to a positive start in September and hope that we can celebrate even more success next year.
Letter to schools: supporting strong attendance from the first day of term
I am writing to thank you for your continued hard work and dedication in supporting strong attendance and ensuring that children and young people across mainstream schools, special schools and alternative provision receive an excellent education.
Because of your efforts, we have begun to turn the tide on one of the biggest challenges that COVID-19 has posed to the education system. Over 350,000 fewer pupils were persistently absent in Spring 2023 compared to Summer 2022.
But there is more to do, with absence rates still well above pre-Covid levels. Improving attendance is a top priority for me and the Department. The steps we take now will be critical to the start of the next academic year. I want to ensure that as many children as possible in mainstream and specialist settings are present from day one.
Those first days back really matter.
Well done to Y5 Oaks who achieved the best attendance throughout the year of the whole school with an average of 96.8%. Thank you children for all of your commitment. Well done also to Y2 Badgers who achieved the best attendance of all the classes in KS1 and Early Years' with 95.3%.
Our whole school aim for next year once again will be to reach 97%. This year's average whole school attendance was 94.4% so definitely a challenge for everyone to bridge that gap in 23-24.
Today's House Point assembly was a chance to celebrate the unique achievements of several of our pupils out of school. These included:
It's wonderful to hear about these fantastic achievements and even better to show them to the rest of the school, perfect role models and inspirations to other children and adults everywhere! Well done children.
