Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
In today's House Point assembly, we celebrated learning and the success gained from it from a range of activities undertaken by children out of school, whilst also remembering that our learning journey never stops. With this in mind, the children were shown certificates and accomplishments made by school staff this year.
These successes have included staff passing various training courses, achieving accreditations from programmes they'd completed, learning new skills and pushing themselves to accomplish things not tried before.
After their 'Darwin Rocks' performance exertions on Tuesday, Y6 pupils were treated to a visit from an Ice Cream van courtesy of ABC Teachers, one of our supply teaching agency partners.
Of course, it had to rain! However, this didn't deter the children from enjoying their treats with their friends, classmates and teachers.
A wonderful sporting year at Greswold can only be achieved through the hard work and commitment of absolutely everyone involved. One of those many individuals who create that wonderful team ethic is Mrs Bibi, who this week, has been deservedly awarded with a School Games Advocate Award, a prestigious awarded given to those unsung heroes to help to give the pupils the opportunities they experience and deserve on a weekly basis.
Mr Bibi's vital role involves ensuring the logistics that go with every sporting event are in place so, first and foremost, the children are safe. This includes arranging transport, ensuring the right number of adults are attending for pupil/adult ratios and that the venues are sufficiently safe through the use of risk assessments.
Please view the photo gallery for the official reason for Mrs Bibi's award as it's truly inspiring.
Please take a moment to scroll through our photo gallery and admire the hard work, commitment and subsequent success of a whole host of Greswold sporting teams this year. There's been the occasional disappointment on the way but this year has been a very memorable one for all sorts of reasons. Well done children. You really do put Greswold 'on the map!'

Y5 Cricket Team - County Champions of Chance 2 Shine cricket competition at Edgbaston
Yesterday, 10 children from Year 5 took part in the Chance to Shine County final after winning our regional event a few weeks ago. The team played exceptionally well throughout. They won all 3 of their group games, which meant they qualified for the semi-finals which was a tense game indeed, however they prevailed and secured their place in the final.
The final was another nail-biter, but they worked incredibly well as a team, showing not only their skill but our school values, and came out on top again. We are officially the top team in the county!!
Mrs Howell and Miss Carpenter, who went with them on the day, were so proud of them! They put a huge amount of effort into training for the day and it really paid off. A massive congratulations to them all.
This afternoon's Greswold Open Afternoon was another resounding success with hundreds of parents visiting the school site to find out about their children's learning through the viewing of their books.
Pupils and their families sat together to look through their learning both inside of school and outside with some bringing blankets and chairs to create a lovely communal atmosphere.
Thank you to all the parents who joined us today and we hope you enjoyed your time sharing your children's learning.
Our brilliant Year 6 pupils put on a fantastic performance of the show Darwin Rocks at the Bushell Hall. After rehearsing the singing, dancing and acting, it was time to take to the stage in front of a audience. The children brought amazing energy to their performance, in a show that told the life story of famous scientist Charles Darwin. Everyone was so impressed with how well the cast told the thought-provoking story through sketches and song. Well done Year 6 and many thanks to all of the staff who made the performance possible.
Greswold would like to express its thanks to everyone involved in Saturday’s very successful PTA Summer Fayre. Even though the inclement weather meant the event had to be staged indoors, all families and visitors seem to have a really good time and, once again, it was lovely to organise a school based event which brought the whole community together.
A special thank you needs to go to our wonderful PTA who selflessly organised everything, along with the numerous helpers and staff members who all chipped in on the day to create an event with such a lovely atmosphere. We have raised in the region of £3,000 which is marvellous and will be used to help fund curriculum enhancements for all the pupils at school.
This year's summer reading challenge is called Ready Set Read. It runs from Saturday 8 July until Saturday 9 September 2023. To participate, children will need to register at their local Solihull library.
Alan, from the Core Library in Solihull, came into school today to talk to the children about the challenge.
The children need pick up a collector's card from the library and read only six books over the summer holidays. They will receive a set of stickers each time they visit and a certificate after six books have been read. For those that complete the challenge they will receive a medal too. For more information please visit: www.summerreadingchallenge.org.uk

A few weeks ago, our pupils took part in a sponsored walk around the Key Stage 2 field, with children walking, running, hopping and even three-legged walking laps. It was all in order to raise money for the Educaid, a charity that Greswold has been supporting for many years. Mr Carnell, Greswold's former headteacher and a representative for Educaid, popped into school to collect a cheque for all of the donations. He was amazed to find that we had raised an amazing £4193.76! A fantastic effort on behalf of the children and many thanks to all of the families who have supported the charity. Members of School Council presented to cheque on behalf of the school which will now go to fund the education of children in Kenya.
